Review:

A lecture delivered amongst the noble Salafiyyeen in Birmingham, England. The talk expounds upon the categories of Tawheed and the essence of true ‘Eemaan. Based upon the book, ‘The Creed of the People of Sunnah' by Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah). A treatise praised by al-‘Allaamah ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Ibn ‘Abdullaah Ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah) of which the noble Shaykh wrote an introduction to it.

Shaykh Aboo Sa'd Saalim at-Taweel states, “Even though this treatise came in the later ages… it is one which contains much benefit.”

“Our Shaykh wrote this book mentioning it in the fundamentals and foundations of ‘Eemaan (faith) as mentioned in the famous Hadeeth of Jibreel… A book based on this noble hadeeth.”

On the authority of ‘Umar (radiyallaahu ’anhu), who said, “One day, while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam), a man, with very white clothes, very dark hair and who was unknown to us (meaning his companions), passed by us and sat next to the Prophet, leaning his knees on his knees and laying his palms on his (the Prophet’s) thighs. He said, ‘O Muhammad! Tell me about Islaam.’ The Messenger of Allaah said, ‘Islaam is to testify that there is no deity worthy except Allaah and the Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, to establish the Prayer (performing it perfectly and on time), to give az-Zakat (obligatory charity), to fast during  Ramadaan and to perform Hajj (Pilgrimage) to the House (The Ka’bah in Makkah) if you have the ability to do so.’ He (the stranger) said, ‘You have said the truth!’ So, we were surprised that he was asking him and confirming what he says.’ He (the stranger) then said, ‘Then, tell me about Eemaan.’ He (the Prophet) said, (Eemaan is) to believe in Allaah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers and the Last Day, and to believe in al-Qadr (Predestination), its good and its bad.’ He (the stranger) then said, ‘You have said the truth!’ The he (the stranger) said, ‘Then, tell me about Al-Ihsaan (excellence in the Religion).’ He (the prophet) said, (al-Ihsaan is) to worship Allaah as if you see Him, for although you do not see Him, He certainly sees you.’ He (the stranger) then said, ‘Then, tell me about the (Last) Hour.’ He said, ‘The one who is being asked has no more knowledge than the one who is asking.’ He said, ‘Then, tell me about its Signs.’ He said, ‘When the slave-girl gives birth to her master, and when you see the (previously) bare-footed, barely clothed and needy shepherds of sheep compete in raising ever taller buildings.’ The he (the stranger) left. I waited for some time, then he (the Prophet) said to me, ‘O ‘Umar! Do you know who the questioner was?’ I said, ‘Allaah and his Messenger have more knowledge.’ He said ‘He is Jibreel (the Angel); he came to teach you your religion.’”

“When the people of Religion began to differ, then the people of the Sunnah began writing books to clarify what is the correct belief.”

“What is meant by the Sunnah means those who bore and carried his Sunnah, the people of the Jamaa’ah means those who united together and did not separate and differ, those who gathered together upon the Sunnah… the truth… the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).”

“True faith in Allaah will not be complete until a person truly believes that Allaah exists, is Lord and that Allaah is the one truly deserving of worship, and until he believes in the high and lofty Names and Attributes of Allaah.”

“There is no created thing in existence except that it has a creator… how can it be imagined that the whole creation exists without a creator?”

“A further proof that Allaah exists is what every person experiences, the Muslims do it, the beloved servants do it, and even the disbelievers do it. When they call, He (Allaah) responds and grants their du’aa (supplication). This proves his existence. An example is found in the person who is a room and sees a door, so he calls and someone responds, does this not prove that someone is in the room… so likewise, whenever we call upon Allaah, He responds by answering our du'aa…”
