Shaykh Rabī ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī gives beautiful and beneficial advice which all Muslims should adhere to: fear Allāh, seek knowledge, be truthful, and other pieces of advice which are essential in the life of the Muslim. This advice is translated by our beloved brother Abū Ṭalḥah Dawūd ibn Ronald Burbank (rahimahullāh), with a Q&A session at the end. The lecture took place at Masjid al-Salafī (Salafī Publications) in Birmingham, UK (2004).

From the most important of affairs is to:

Firstly, have fear of Allāh and be dutiful to Him.

Secondly, to seek beneficial knowledge: The excellence and virtues of seeking knowledge are mentioned. Īmān cannot be complete except with beneficial knowledge and righteous actions.

Thirdly, beware of lying. Only speak the truth and do not lie. The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: Adhere to truthfulness.

Allāh says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّـهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ
O you who believe! Be afraid of Allāh, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).
[Sūrah al-Tawbah, 9:119]

Fourthly, strive to have good manners.
