A beautiful and heart warming lecture given by Shaykh ʿAbd al-Salām ibn Burjiss (raḥimahullāhu taʿāla) on the importance of brotherhood between the believers. He gives wonderful examples of the Companions from amongst the Muhājirūn and the Anṣār, and the forging of their brotherhood ties by the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and their sacrifices for one another. Most importantly, he emphasises the importance of brotherhood and its connection to dāʿwah al-Islām and its link to the elimination of racism and prejudice. This is followed by a highly beneficial Q&A session.
A nice lecture by the late shaykh (from Riyadh, KSA), Shaykh ʿAbd al-Salām Ibn Burjiss (raḥimahullāh). The lecture hits close to one's heart considering that the beloved speaker spoke about the importance of adherence to the Sunnah, a sign of the sincere believer, holding on firmly to this blessed manhaj, not knowing when death will reach a person. Our shaykh returned back to Allāh just a few years after this talk, whilst he was still young (38 yrs old), may Allāh have mercy upon him. The translation is done by Abū Ṭalhah Dāwūd Burbank (raḥimhahullāh) of Salafī Publications.
The Shaykh explains that the cause for Allāh's goodness and blessing is to affirm the tawḥīd of Allāh and that the root of all evil is shirk with Allāh. He also recounts how this vile act of shirk first appeared in the world.
At first the noble Shaykh recounts the main characteristics of the people of desires. Then he goes into the traits of the Khawārij – the first sect to appear in Islām. The Shaykh continues his lecture about the Khawārij and their innovation of takfīr.
"Adding knowledge to actions shows that Allāh's favour is upon a person!", "The Salaf used to say, 'Knowledge is not that people relate a lot, knowledge is sought in order to fear Allāh."
