Some of the points which the Shaykh (Hafidhahullāh) mentioned:
The first issue is: what is the foundation of the religion? The foundation of the religion is the tawḥīd of Allāh and singling Allāh out with His worship, and that is by worshipping Allāh alone and ascriibng no partners with Him and leaving off all other worship of anything besides Allāh. The second issue is: why did Allāh create the creation? And the answer is that Allāh created the creation for the worship of Him and obedience to Him as He said,
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ
‘I did not create the Jinn nor the Mankind except that they should worship Me.'
The third issue: How do we understand Islām? We understand Islām they way the companions understood Islām and we hold firmly to the religion they way they held firmly to the religion; as Allāh says in the Qurʾān,
وَمَن يُشَاقِقِ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَيَتَّبِعۡ غَيۡرَ سَبِيلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ نُوَلِّهِۦ مَا تَوَلَّىٰ وَنُصۡلِهِۦ جَهَنَّمَۖ وَسَآءَتۡ مَصِيرًا
‘And whoever goes against the Messenger after clear guidance has been revealed to him and follows other than the way of the believers, then we will leave him in the path he has chosen and burn him in the fire and what an evil destination.'
Also, the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, when he told us about the Saved Sect,
'They are those who are upon what I am upon and what my Companions are upon',
And also the Prophet said,
'Upon you is my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs'.

It is important for the Salafī that he memorizes these proofs so that his understanding will be clearer.
The fourth issue: How do we know the truth when there is a difference of opinion?
The person must go back to the Book and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Companions and if he finds any of the texts which are confusing for him then it is upon him that he goes back to the Scholars; for example Shaykh Nāsirud-Dīn al Albānī, and Ibn Bāz, and he should find that the answer for his confusion would be in either the books that they have written or in their tapes.
These are the Shuyūkh who have died; as for those who are alive, then for example Shaykh ʿUthaymīn, ʿAbd al ʿAzīz Āl al-Shaykh, and Shaykh Muqbil and Shaykh Fawzān and Shaykh Rabī'; and the Shaykh says we go back to them and we ask them just as Allāh says in the Qurʾān,
فَسۡـَٔلُوٓاْ أَهۡلَ ٱلذِّكۡرِ إِن كُنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
'And ask the people of knowledge if you do not know.’
And this is a proof.
The fifth issue: Who is the best of mankind after the Prophets and the Messengers to this day? The Companions of the Messenger and those who are contemporary to them and that is what is the truth; as the Prophet said,
‘The best of mankind is my generation then those who follow them, then those who follow.’

The sixth issue: What is compulsory for the one who is mukallaf, the one who is responsible and will be held accountable for what he does, so what is wājib upon the mukallaf in this day?
Firstly, he starts with himself by sticking with the Book and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf. Secondly he gives daʿwah to his family and those who are near to him, as Allāh says,
وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ
'And warn your close relatives.'
Thirdly, that he doesn't become mutaʿaṣṣub to anything except the Kitāb and the Sunnah and the understanding of the Salaf.
Fourthly, he returns to the 'Ulema in the issues of legislation as well as current issues.
