Benefit: Crucified for the Sunnah: The Daʿwah Needs Real Men

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

The Salaf were men; they were lions of the sunnah. What we face now is nothing compared to what the salaf faced in sticking to their ʿaqīdah and their dīn. This daʿwah is for real men. We don’t compromise our dīn; we stay firm regardless of any fitan. Don’t throw away your akhirah; don’t throw it away so easily. Listen to the inspiring story of the great Imām and shahid, Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Sahl al-Ramli, known as Ibn al-Nabulsi by Abū Idrīs.

Benefit: "All you people (Salafis) know is manhaj, you just study Sharḥ al-Sunnah"

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Q&A with Shaykh Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná: Egyptian Treasures in Refutation of Doubtful Manhaj Trolls

Doubt #1: "All you people (Salafis) know is manhaj, you just study Sharḥ al-Sunnah, you don't know the important matters"

On the evening of Saturday, November 12th, 2017 (Safar, 23rd, 1439), our noble brother Shākir al-Afghānī had the pleasure of an audience with Shaykh Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná. After greeting the Shaykh and informing him of the activities at TROID in Toronto, Canada, and exchanging pleasantries, he mentioned the following doubts that are spread nowadays in order to split the ranks of the Salafīs (i.e. in Canada, USA, UK etc.).

Questioner: Shaykh, our brothers are seeking advice regarding some of the Canadian youth who return from Medīnah [i.e. The Islamic University] with doubts. They spread these doubts amongst the Salafis and slander the brothers. They claim that the brothers do not know anything except Manhaj. Likewise, they belittle the books of Manhaj, the like of: Sharḥ al-Sunnah. They claim the brothers do not know Tawḥīd, Fiqh and the rulings of Wuḍūʿ, and that they do not know of the important matters.

Shaykh: ...these are students who go from Canada to study in the Islāmic university, and return with this speech?

Questioner: Yes Shaykh. How do you advise us to deal with them.

Shaykh: In the name of Allāh, all praise is due to Allāh, and may the peace and blessings of Allāh be upon the Messenger of Allāh, ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam.

Our noble brother has asked a question on behalf of our Salafī brothers in Canada regarding some of the students who go to the Islamic University and return with speech which is contradictory to the speech of the people of Sunnah. They belittle the books of Ahl al-Sunnah and speak ill of the duʿāt of Ahl al-Sunnah. What should our position be regarding this and how should we deal with them.

I say—by the favor of Allāh—they should be advised. If they are not with the Salafis in knowledge and in action, they are to be disassociated from, abandoned, and no one should speak to them [i.e. with regards to the religion].

Likewise, I advise our Salafī brothers not to engage these people in debates nor speak to them with regards to the religion because they hold opinions which are in opposition to that which the people of Sunnah are upon, based on that which you have mentioned.

So abandon them, do not speak to them! Tell them, “you are upon your path and we are upon our path, do not bother us and do not cause us fitnah”. Do not let them speak, and do not let them in your mosques, because they may propagate their bidʿah. So prohibit them from this in a good way without harm. This is the way it should be done.

If they enter your ranks, they will cause fitnah for the youth, so beware of them. Leave them in their state and remain you in your state. Leave them to their mosques and leave us to our mosques. This is the correct way.

And may the peace and blessings of Allāh be upon the Messenger (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam).

Questioner: Jazākum Allāhu Khayrā

Benefit: "Follow the Religion of Ibrāhīm Ḥanīfā" (What Is Ḥanīfiyyah?)

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

In Sūrah al-Naḥl, Allāh says, the meaning of which is: "Then, We have sent the revelation to you: 'Follow the religion of Ibrāhīm Ḥanīfā and he was not of the Mushrikīn'" [Sūrah al-Naḥl, 16:123]. Allāh mentions Ḥanīf in His Book many times. In addition to that, in the aforementioned verse, Allāh commands us to follow the religion of Ibrāhīm Ḥanīfā. What does Ḥanīf mean, both linguistically and in Allāh's legislation? What does Ḥanīf have to do with Prophet Ibrāhīm ʿalayhi salām? How can we obey Allāh in this command? Listen to our brother, Abū ʿAbdillāh Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī, as he provides answers to these questions from the explanation of the book, The Three Fundamental Principles, as explained by Shaykh ʿʿUbayd al-Jābirī and Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān.

Benefit: "I Mix with the People of Bidʿah to Bring Them Close"

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Nowadays, it is common to see some of the youth, impressed by themselves and what they perceive to have gathered of knowledge, to overrate themselves and believe that they can "bring the people of innovation close" by working with them or cooperating with them. They are heedless, not realising that they will be flattered with kindness, wealth and other forms of emotional blackmail. One of the major scholars of our time, may Allāh preserve him, comments on such a (innovated) notion in the name of 'cooperation and rectification': Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī was asked, "When one of the brothers is advised not to walk with the people of innovation or sit with them, he responds, 'I am one who establishes principles for them?" The Shaykh answered, "If you were one who established principles, you would not have kept company with them, if you were one who established principles and knew the methodology of the Salaf and knew the dangers you were exposing yourself to, and knew those who have fallen victim from the likes of you, those who are deluded like you, by Allāh, if you were as you said, you would not have walked with the people of innovation. And many walk with the people of innovation with the argument that they are benefitting them! 'O my brother - they have not benefitted from the Scholars, so how will they be benefitted from you?!! They reject the statements of Ibn Bāz (d.1420H) and the statements of al-Albānī (d.1420H), al- ʿUthaymīn (d.1421H) and others from the Imāms of Islām and will take from you?!! This is delusion, and ninety-nine out of a hundred times, you will end up from their followers."1

Benefit: “An Attribute I Have Known From Akhzam” The Inheritance of the Ḥizbīs

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

The phrase "An attribute I have known from Akhzam" is an old Arab proverb which is based on a true story of a man named Akhzam who was disobedient and rebellious to his father. Later when Akhzam passed away, his children increased in harshness and disobedience to their grandfather, surpassing Akhzam himself. Until one day they beat their own grandfather, the grandfather then replied by saying:

إنَّ بَنِيَّ ضَرَّجُونِي بالدَّمِ *** شِنْشِنَةٌ أَعْرِفُهَا مِن أَخْزَمِ
Indeed My Children Have Imbrued me (with my own) Blood. An Attribute I Have Known From Akhzam.

Meaning, that which they were doing was not something new for the grandfather, rather it was an attribute inherited from the deceased Akhzam.

The Scholars use this famous proverb to illustrate to us that the Ḥizbīs have not brought something new with them, rather speaking ill of the Salafis is something the people of innovation and Ḥizbiyyah of old would practice.

Abū Ḥātim al-Rāzī mentioned: A sign of the people of innovation is their battling against the people of narrations (Ahl al-Athar). [ʿAqīdah al-Salaf wa Asḥāb al-Ḥadīth, pg.304]

Benefit: 99 Names of Allāh on Your Hands?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Today, people try to add things to the religion that they find suitable for it. There is no doubt that this is one of the gateways to innovation. These people speak about things in the religion that no scholar upon the Sunnah preceded them in and this opposes the way of our Salaf. Imām Aḥmad Ibn Ḥanbal said, "You should beware of speaking about an issue in which you are not preceded by a scholar." A common saying among the people today is that the lines on the hand indicate 99 Names of Allāh subḥānahu wa taʿala. Our brother Abū al-ʿAbbās Mūsá Richardson discusses this issue...From the lectures entitled, ʿAqīdah Course- Summer Course.
