Benefit: The Fifteenth of Shaʿbān Is Not Auspicious, As Some People May Think

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Sāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (رحمه الله) said:

Some people, on the fifteenth of Shaʿbān, make food and distribute it as charity to the poor. They think that this day is auspicious for giving charity, but that is not the case. In reality, this is an innovation, and the fifteenth of Shaʿbān is not virtuous. It is like [the fifteenth of] any other month. There is nothing virtuous about it, except that if he (ﷺ) would fast the white days [i.e. the thirteenth, the fourteenth and the fifteenth of the Islamic month], then he would fast the fifteenth day. As for singling its night with prayer and its day with fast, then there is no basis for that. There is nothing confirmed from the Prophet (ﷺ) about this.
