Benefit: Is There Any Virtue in Dying on a Specific Day or at a Specific Time?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz (رحمه الله) was asked: "Is dying on a Thursday night, during the day on a Friday, or in Ramaḍān virtuous?"

He (رحمه الله) said: "I do not know anything about this. All of the Aḥadīth reported about dying on a Friday are inauthentic. Likewise, I do not know anything that suggests that dying in Ramaḍān has a specific merit. If an individual died while being upright and fasting, then we hope for a tremendous amount of goodness [for him]; however, I do not know anything specific about dying in Ramaḍān. As for dying on a Thursday night or during the day on a Friday, then there are inauthentic narrations reported about that."
