Benefit: Given the Choice - Marry a Sister upon the Sunnah or a Sister upon Innovation?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

ʿImrān ibn Hitān, al-Sunnī (meaning that he was a sunnī) thumma (then he became a) al-Khārijī: He adopted the madh-hab of the khawārij during the later stages of his life. The reason for that was his cousin (female) was of the madh-hab of the khawārij, so he wanted to make her change; however, she ended up making him change to her madh-hab!1

Ibn Kathīr further stated:

“‘ʿImrān ibn Hitaan Al-Khaarijee: At first he was from Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah. However he married a very beautiful woman from the Khawārij and he loved her immensely, whereas he was unattractive. Thus he wanted to change her to the Sunnah but she refused, hence he deviated along with her to her madh-hab. He was a prolific poet. He is the one who praised the killer of ʿAlī (ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muljim) by stating the following:

"A strike from an ever-repentant one; he did not do it except to attain the pleasure of the One who possesses the ‘Arsh.

Indeed, I will always remember this act for I consider him one to be of the most faithful servants in the sight of Allāh."2

Imām al-Dhahabī's wife told him, "I and you will be in Jannah together because you were blessed (i.e. to have a very pretty wife) and you showed gratitude, and I was tested and I was patient."3

As Abū ‘Āliyyah said, “Two favours Allāh bestowed upon me and I don’t know which is greater than the other: the first one is that He made me a Muslim, and second is that He did not make me a Harooree (i.e. a Khaarijee).”4

Benefit: Is Qadr Repelled by Duʿā and Charity?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Mūsá Richardson (hafiẓahullāh) translates a fatwá from Imām Ibn Bāz in his book of fatawá.

Duʿā is indeed a mighty weapon for the believer and it is the essence and height of worship. Allāh Subhāna wa taʿālá has said make duʿā to me and I will respond to you.  And those who are too arrogant to worship me are going to enter the fire of Hell humiliated.

Shaykh Bin Bāz (raḥimahullāh) explains in his sixth volume of his fatawá whether duʿā (supplication) and charity have the ability to repel Qadā and Qadr, the planned events that Allāh 'azza wa jal has willed.

Prophet Muḥammad (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) said:

"Nothing increases one's life-span except good deeds, and nothing repels Divine Decree except duʿā. And verily a person may be deprived of sustenance due to a sin that he does." [Ibn Mājah]

Listen to the audio and reap the benefits of the Shaykh's explanation on the matter, and May Allāh 'azza wa jal make us amongst those who supplicate and remember him often.

Benefit: Ridding Oneself of Money Earned by Ḥarām Means

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Ṣālih al-Fawzān (حفظه الله) was asked: How can I rid myself of ḥarām money [i.e. money earned by unlawful means] if it were that it was mixed with ḥalāl money which I earned by conforming to the Islamic Sharīʿah?

The shaykh (حفظه الله) responded by saying:

Upon you is to estimate [the quantity] of ḥarām money you possess, and to be cautious [when doing so by overestimating as opposed to underestimating if it were that you were uncertain of the exact quantity of ḥarām money you possessed]. Then distribute it to the poor, not as charity, [but rather,] as ḥarām money you are ridding yourself of. So as to absolve yourself [from it], so that this money will be like money which has no owner. Therefore, it is given to the poor and needy.
