A Talk to Children: Who Is Allāh and Why Do We Worship Him?

  Abū Khadījah ʿAbd al-Waḥid

A pivotal lecture for parents, youngsters, teachers and students, over-viewing the purpose of creation and the path of true Islām. A unique and important lecture given to an audience of young Muslims. Abū Khadījah ʿAbd al Waḥid begins by explaining the blessing of Islām upon the Muslim, the bounties of Allāh's mercy, and why we owe Allāh our thanks. Later, many examples are brought to exemplify the disaster of shirk and the punishment that awaits in the hereafter, as well as a brief description of the Paradise. We recommend this lecture to all parents and teachers, one of the few lectures that can be played to younger Muslims and understood well in shāʾ Allāh.

Ustādh Mūsá Richardson answers a question from a boy who enquires about a wet-nurse who may be maḥram to her child or not, the knowledge of this being relayed on her deathbed without full clarity. He wished to know what happens in such a complex situation. Another example of why it is unwise to tell boys and girls "don't ask about these things" when they are capable of comprehending the reality of situations. In broader society they are being taught or exposed to vulgar interpretations of intimacy and sexuality and incorrect understandings of rights and relationships.
