Events on the Day of Judgement

There are several events that will occur on the Day of Judgement, the Day when the people will be gathered awaiting their fates. They will be covered in sweat, all the way up to their throats because of their fear of what awaits them. Each person will be concerned about his own self, not his children, his spouse, his brother, his sister, or his parents. What a terrible day that will be! Allāh has promised intercession only for those who say "La ilāha ill-Allāh." Shaykh ʿUbayd elucidates.Translated by Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl Davis. (From the 2012 Dawrah, hosted by the brothers at Salafī Publications.)

Benefit: Intelligence Is to Prefer the Hereafter Over the Dunyā

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Imām Abū Ḥātim ibn Ḥibbān (d. AH 354), may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:1

Intelligence is the remedy of the hearts; the tool of the scholars; the seed for the tilth of the Hereafter; the Crown of the believer in the worldly life; and his readiness for any calamity. Whomever lacks intelligence, then gaining power shall never increase him in Honour, nor shall wealth ever Exalt him.

The sermon discusses the idea of "killing time", the exact opposite of what a believer should do, which is to take advantage of health and time, to gain good deeds and fill one's life with reward. Abū al-ʿAbbās incurs the audience to participate in the activities of the masjid and to seek knowledge, so they can know how to enact good deeds, according to the sunnah.
