Benefit: An Example of Sincerity in the Daʿwah of Shaykh al-Islām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh al-Islām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb’s mentions in his letter to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Suwaydī (one of the scholars of Iraq at that time): I convey to you that I am a follower and not an innovator. My creed and religion that I worship Allāh with is the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-Jamāʿah which the leaders of the Muslims were upon, like the four Imāms and those who follow in their way until the day of judgement.

Likewise, I have clarified to the people (the importance of having) sincerity towards the religion for the sake of Allāh, and I have forbade them from calling upon the dead or the living and associating them as partners with Allāh in acts of worship the likes of slaughtering (sacrificial animals), making a vow, having reliance and trust, prostrating and other than this from the rights of Allāh that no angel or messenger has any right to be associated in with Allāh. This is what all the messengers—from the first of them to the last of them—have been calling to, and this is what Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-Jamāʿah are upon.

Benefit: Is the Daʿwah of Salafiyyah a Return to Fitan?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

The people of innovation and the disbelievers have expended a great deal of effort to bring about controversy and confusion with regards to the reality of Shaykh al-Islām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb and his call to the way of the Salaf. He succeeded in returning many Muslims from the worshipping of graves and other than Allāh to the Tawḥīd of Islām. Of course, he came across a lot of opposition from groups such as the Ṣūfīs, who viewed this da'wah as a fitnah. This false notion, spread through their propagation, is present today. In this benefit, our Shaykh Muḥammad Amaan al-Jaamee, raḥimahullāh, discusses the validity of this false claim. For more on Shaykh al-Islām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, check out the education website from our brothers at Salafi Publications, Wahhabis.com. Also, in the  introductory class to the Explanation of the Six Principles, our brother Abū Iyaḍ, may reward him, provides some historical context to the time of Shaykh al-Islām.

Benefit: Our Call is Tawḥīd

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Imām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb (raḥimuhullāh) mentioned:

As for our call, then we call the people towards the Tawḥīd which Allāh mentions when addressing the prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam):

قُلْ هَـذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى اللَّـهِ ۚ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي ۖ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّـهِ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
Say, "This is my way; I invite to Allāh with insight, I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allāh; and I am not of those who associate others with Him."
[Sūrah Yūsuf, 12:108]

وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّـهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّـهِ أَحَدًا
And the mosques are for Allāh (Alone), so do not invoke anyone along with Allah.
[Sūrah al-Jinn, 72:18]

Benefit: The First Piece of Revelation Which Initiated Prophethood

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

A benefit from tonight's upcoming al-Usūl al-Thalāthah lesson (2017/10/11) at TROID:

According to the strongest position, “Iqraʾ” (read) was the first piece of revelation. The first verses revealed to the prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) were:

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ١
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ٢
اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ٣
الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ٤
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ٥

Read! In the name of your Lord who has created (all that exists). (1)
He has created man from a clot. (2)
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. (3)
Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. (4)
He has taught man that which he knew not. (5)
[Sūrah al-ʿAlaq, 96:1-5]

This was the introduction to the beginning of revelation. When the angel came and held him (the Prophet, ṣallá Allāhu ʿālayhi wa sallam) tightly and then let him go, holding him tightly again and letting him go - the angel did this three times, each time saying: Read! The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿālayhi wa-sallam) would reply: I am not able to read! Then the third time, the angel recited the verses to him and the Prophet went to Khadījah (raḍi Allāhu ʿanhā)—who was his pious, trusted, noble wife—and he informed her of that which occurred whilst trembling and frightened due to his unfamiliarity with that which had taken place.

Benefit: Where Did the Term “Jāmiyyah” Come From?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

The term “Jāmiyyah” [i.e. jamīs]—just like the term “Wahhābiyyah” [i.e. wahābīs]—are names which the people of Ḥizbiyyah—from the Ikhawīs and other than them—coin Ahl al-Sunnah, the Salafīs, those who are upon the way of the way of the pious predecessors, those upon moderation and the middle way, so that the people may turn away from their upright daʿwah upon the Book and the Sunnah.

This name [Jāmiyyah or Jamīs] first appeared during the invasion of Saddam Hussein in Kuwait and the other nearby nations. Thus, the scholars disapproved of this transgression and due to this a number of people who were supporting Saddam from the Ikhwanīs and Ḥizbīs stopped. Furthermore, Shaykh Muḥammad Amān al-Jāmī was among those who took it upon himself to refute these transgressions.

Chosen Gems from the Fatāwá of Imām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Tamīmī

The people of knowledge from the salaf have mentioned the various types of actions people can perform without being aware of the true meaning of their actions. An example of this would be good deeds that many people perform, such as giving charity, maintaining family ties, being kind to people and so forth. Likewise, avoiding the oppression of others, or not speaking ill about them, all of which a person can do sincerely for Allāh’s sake, however without yearning for His reward in the next life. Rather all he hopes for is that Allāh will protect his wealth and his family, or cause it (his wealth) to increase, or make his name be remembered forever and so on.

Class: Explanation of the Four Principles (القواعد الأربع)

  Abū ʿIyāḍ Amjad Rafīq

A highly beneficial class that took place with Ustādh Amjad Rafīq in 2014/2015. Al-Qawāʾid al-Arbaʿ (The Four Principles) is the outstanding treatise by the illustrious Imām, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb (raḥimahullāh). The noble brother utilised the explanation of six scholars in a weekly lesson that took place at TROID (online) over approximately half a year.

Class: The Three Fundamental Principles

  Abū ʿAbdullāh Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī

The Three Fundamental Principles [ongoing class] by Abū ʿAbdullāh Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī, based on the tremendous works of Shaykh al-Islām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, with the explanation of the noble scholar of al-Madīnah, Shaykh ʿʿUbayd al-Jābirī

Shaykh Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banna’s Exclusive Introduction to Our Weekly Four Principles Class

Shaykh Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banna’s Exclusive Introduction to Our Weekly Four Principles Class

On the 8th of Jumād al-Awwāl 1439, corresponding to the 25th of January 2018, we requested an exclusive introduction from our noble shaykh, Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banna (حفظه الله), to our new weekly Four Principles class, a class that takes place on Saturdays after Maghrib. The shaykh happily agreed and proceeded with the advice detailed below.

After praising Allāh and sending salutations upon the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam), he said:

This advice is from your brother Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banna, the Salafī Islamic caller in the Arab Republic of Egypt. I greet you with the Islamic greeting al-Salāmu ʿAlaykum wa-Raḥmatullāh wa Barakātuh.

I ask Allāh to grant you success and steadfastness. Our brother Munīb — who resides in Canada and is originally from Somalia — requests that we give a brief introduction to this new class. Allāh has granted you success in completing al-Uṣūl al-Thalāthah (The Three Fundamental Principles) by the illustrious Imām, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, along with the explanation of various scholars. Allāh has blessed you and granted you all success in completing this treatise and now you will be starting your class in al-Qawāʿid al-ʾArbaʿ (The Four Fundamental Principles) by Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, with the explanation of Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān.

Glad tidings to you all for this effort of yours. These (treatises) are fundamental introductory books in the field of al-Tawḥīd. You began with al-Uṣūl al-Thalāthah and now you will begin al-Qawāʿid al-ʾArbaʿ, then The Six Principles, then The Removal of the Doubts, then The Book of Tawḥīd and then the various books on ʿAqīdah and Manhaj. This is the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah, and glad tidings to you for embarking upon this methodology. I ask Allāh to grant you success and steadfastness.

You will now start with al-Qawāʿid al-ʾArbaʿ, and in reality, al-Qawāʿid al-ʾArbaʿ not only benefits you, but it likewise benefits the non-Muslims as well, because in it is a battle against the false deities and a battle against the grave worshippers who worship the graves of righteous Muslims and the graves of the rabbis and monks from amongst the Christians and Jews.

So in this Qawāʿid al-ʾArbaʿ, there is much emphasis on refuting these false beliefs of the people of the graves. Many of the Muslims establish graves in mosques like the ones we have here in Egypt, the graves of Husayn and Zaynab (raḍi Allāhu ʿanhum), and other than them from the graves we have here in Egypt, and likewise other graves that the people go to in Morocco, India, Pakistan and other than them.

So this treatise by Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb will benefit you and the Christians as well. So encourage your fellow Muslims to come out to this class and benefit so that they may call the non-Muslims to Islām. There is no issue if it is a class in a different language (English); let the people come out and listen.

It could be that someone is guided to Islām by way of you and that person who is guided ends up being a great benefit to Islām and the Muslims. So I encourage all of you to attend this class, and I ask Allāh to reward you all for your actions. I ask Allāh to make these classes of yours consistent and continuous up until we meet our Lord.

The shaykh concludes by supplicating for the brothers and sisters.
