  Abū Khadījah ʿAbd al-Wāḥid

"There will be leaders who will not be led by my guidance and who will not adopt my ways? There will be among them men who will have the hearts of devils in the bodies of human beings. I said: What should I do Messenger of Allāh, if I (happen) to live in that time? He replied: You will listen to the ameer and carry out his orders; even if your back is flogged and your wealth is snatched, you should listen and obey."

In a sidebar benefit recorded in Masjid Raḥmah (approx. 2002), during a series of classes on al-ʿAqīdah al-Wāsitiyyah, our beloved brother Abu ʿUways (raḥimahullāh) addresses some foolish individuals who were amused upon hearing about the khawārij beheading a non-Muslim in Saudi al-ʿArabīa who was under the protection of the Kingdom. Abū 'Uways (رحمه الله), refutes the takfīrī ideology and goes on to discuss that our ummah is not a nation of unjust killings; it is a nation of mercy. Our beloved Messenger (ﷺ), taught us not to harm an animal unjustly, let alone a human being. 

Narrated by Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنه): "The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'A woman entered the Fire because of a cat which she had tied, neither giving it food nor setting it free to eat from the vermin of the earth.'" (Reported Ṣaḥiḥ Bukhārī, Vol. 4, Book 54, No. 535.)

Narrated by Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه): "The Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'A prostitute was forgiven by Allāh, because while passing by a panting dog near a well she saw that the dog was about to die of thirst, so she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover, she drew out some water for it. So, Allāh forgave her because of that.'" (Reported in Ṣaḥiḥ Bukhārī, Vol. 4, Book 54, No. 538.)

Narrated by 'Abdullāh ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنه): "The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Whoever killed a Mu'ahid [a person who is granted the pledge of protection by the Muslims] shall not smell the fragrance of paradise though its fragrance can be smelt at a distance of forty years [of traveling].'" (Reported in Ṣaḥiḥ Bukhārī, Vol. 9, Book 83, No. 49.)

Indeed, we do not rejoice in the unjust killings of Muslims or non-Muslims, this is not victory. Victory lies in applying the Qur'an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf us-Sālih.

The Khawārij is a group that has strayed from the correct understanding of Islām and in doing so, has created a great deal of mischief in the lands of the Muslims. The sect's fundamental deviations in matters of Islamic creed (such as obeying the ruler) have led to much bloodshed and turmoil. Therefore, it is imperative for the Muslim to understand the reality of this group and their dangers. In this benefit, our brother Abū al-Ḥasan Mālik makes mention of a few narrations regarding the corrupt and misguided ideology of the Khawārij. Benefit: The Khawārij Cause Corruption and Destruction Wherever They Go

Shaykh Muḥammad Ghālib al-‘Umarī (حفظه الله) said on the 12th January 2017: “From the dawn of its existence, the Khawārij has only succeeded in enraging the Ummah because of their revolutions and upheavals, destruction, spilling of blood, and taking people out of the fold of Islām. They are the source of destruction and the reason for corruption wherever they settle.”

Benefit: The Khawārij of Today Have No Patience for Ṭūllāb al-ʿIlm

 In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

After advising us not to abandon lessons after attending the first few, our teacher, Ustādh Mūsá Richardson, may Allāh have abundant mercy upon him, stated the following:1 


 ... An additional benefit that is related to our  Salafīyyah  and our distinction from the Khawārij  of today: There is a special attribute that the Khawārij have today, specifically. The Khawārij who call to rebel against the rulers. You might say: "This is a strange connection." But I will tell you: The  Khawārij of today have no patience in Ṭālib al-ʿIlm. They have no patience to continue [upon it] and study day-after-day, week-after-week, and year-after-year. While they may have acts of worship which are great and other things that they perform with diligence, Ṭālib al-ʿIlm is very hard for them in this era. Why? I do not know. Why do I say that? It manifests itself in their claim when they speak about the scholars of  Ahl al-Sunnah. [From] the evil nicknames that the Khawārij invent for our scholars today are: They are the scholars of woman's underpants (i.e. menses, the colour of the blood, when it is pure and impure).

What is the secret behind this claim, aside them being  khabīth and having filthy accusations? Why do they pick this issue out of all of the issues in the religion, saying that the scholars are busy with this? They could say that the ʿulāma are busy with sheep and cows, dividing them up for Zakāh. They could say that they ʿulāma are busy with raising your hands or not raising your hands in takbīr. If they wanted to speak about the ʿulāma, they could say so many things.

Why did they say that the scholars are people who are so busy with issues of women's purity? This is because they attended the first few lessons with the scholars. They tried to seek knowledge. They tried. But they did not get past ṭahārah (purification)! So, in their minds, the ʿulāma are still teaching menses after 25-30 years. They came to a few lessons and saw the ʿulāma of  Islām  dealing with the texts of the Book and the Sunnah  in great detail and precision, making taḥqīq, and showing how the issues about ṭahārah are to be understood properly - and one of the issues [were] women's menses. This is an issue from our  dīn. So, when they couldn't bear it and they did not have patience to go beyond that and gain real fiqh in the religion, they immediately jumped to the newspapers, seeking Fiqh al-Wāqiʿ, and running to the political activities, propped up as scholars, and getting behind them, trying to replace our scholars with those political activities. What made them make this jump? What made them leave the lessons with the ʿulāma in the very beginning? It is their lack of patience. So be a Salafī. Be distinguished. Be patient upon Ṭālib al-ʿIlm. It takes patience for you to study a book from beginning to end. 

From the words of Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān: This is the path to understanding your religion. This is the path to being firm in your ʿAqīdah and being rightly guided as the Companions were rightly guided. This is the path to salvation.

So be patient and ask Allāh for  consistency, patience, and persistence  upon this good you are on right now.1

Benefit: The People of Innovation Continue to Misrepresent Islām and Salafīyyah

Shaykh Muḥammad Ghālib al-‘Umarī (حفظه الله) said on 27th December 2016:

The methodology of the Salaf—and the Companions (رضي الله عنهم) are at the head of them—is totally distant from rebelling against the ruler and calling for revolutions and upheavals. ِAnd whoever opposes that, then between them and us are the narrations.

Two groups have participated in misrepresenting the methodology of the Salaf:
[1] The callers to takfīr, because they unjustly ascribe to it [the methodology of the Salaf].
[2] The callers to liberalism, because they wrongfully ascribe takfīr to this methodology [of the Salaf].

In the same way that Islām was oppressed, Salafīyyah—which is following the Pious Predecessors of the Ummah, and the Companions (رضي الله عنهم) are at the head of them—was oppressed when the callers to takfīr and bombings wrongfully ascribed themselves to it [Salafīyyah].

Benefit: What Do We Say About ISIS?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Ḥasan al-Sumālī discuses ISIS, the false-claimants to an "Islamic State" and leadership over the Muslims. He explains that they are  Khawārij (renegades). They are those who the Prophet Muḥammad (sallallāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) labelled "dogs of the hellfire." The speaker continues: it is not permissible to feel sympathy for them...these individuals have ruined the image of Islām more than anyone with millions of dollars could have achieved, through their filthy and barbaric actions. Finally the speaker highlights that ISIS (and those like them) are bringing their fight not soley to the West but their major concern is to fight and overthrow Muslim rulership in the Muslim lands as evident through their countless murders of Muslims in Iraq and Syria. Their claim is Islām but their actions are those of violent political revolutionaries. he finishes by mentioning numerous names of the Salafī scholars who have academically annihilated ISIS, al-Qaida, Usamah bin Laden etc.

Comprehensive Warning against the Tribulation of Takfīr

  

As for ruling by other than what Allāh revealed, and abandoning prayer, then this is certainly disbelief in action. It is not possible to negate the name of disbelief from him after Allāh and His Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhī wa-salām) have called him that.

Glorify Allāh by Respecting the Rulers and the Scholars!

Shaykh Sulaymān al-Ruḥaylī (حفظه الله) said: "Mankind will continue to be upon goodness as long as they revere the rulers and the scholars. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Glorifying Allāh involves respecting the aged Muslim, the just ruler, and the one who never forgets the Qurʾān after memorising it and is moderate when pronouncing its letters.' [Reported by Abū Dāwūd, and Shaykh al-Albānī authenticated it.] Therefore, respecting the rulers is legislated as there are numerous Aḥādīth to support this. Consequently, revering them is from the foundations of Ahl-Sunnah wa-al-Jamā‘ah."

Question:

Firstly, I love you for the sake of Allāh and I ask Allāh to preserve you just as He preserves all of His righteous servants. Here (in France), the French Government is appealing to the Salafīs for their cooperation in capturing the Takfīrists[1]. In all actuality they are requesting that we work alongside them to catch these individuals. Is this something that the religion of Islām deems permissible or not -may Allāh bless you?

Answer:

Truthfully, the Takfīrists are considered to be enemies of Islām and enemies of the Muslims as they are responsible for actions that have harmed the Muslims. It is ok for (the Muslims) to point the (authorities) in their direction and to clarify what they are upon if they are certain about these people.[2]
