Events on the Day of Judgement

There are several events that will occur on the Day of Judgement, the Day when the people will be gathered awaiting their fates. They will be covered in sweat, all the way up to their throats because of their fear of what awaits them. Each person will be concerned about his own self, not his children, his spouse, his brother, his sister, or his parents. What a terrible day that will be! Allāh has promised intercession only for those who say "La ilāha ill-Allāh." Shaykh ʿUbayd elucidates.Translated by Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl Davis. Benefit: Answering the Claim, "The Caller (Dāʿī) Is Better Than the Scholar"

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh ʿUbayd al-Jābirīcomments on the verse below, clarifying an existing doubt:

شَهِدَ اللَّهُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ وَأُولُو الْعِلْمِ قَائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ ۚ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
Allāh bears witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Him; and likewise, the angels and the people of knowledge bear witness: He who maintains justice, none has the right to be worshipped but Him, the All Mighty, the All Wise.[Sūrah al-ʿImrān, 3:18]

Present in this verse is a refutation of some of those who ascribe to the daʾwah, who say: The caller (dāʿī) is better than the scholar. They use the argument that the caller is like the rain cloud, travelling from place to place, everyone benefits from it [i.e. the rain]. While the scholar is like a well, no one drinks from it except those who travel to it. Glorified is Allāh the Exalted! Are they more knowledgeable or Allāh? Who are the ones who testify to the oneness of Allāh [in this verse], the scholar or the caller? The scholar! Who are the inheritors of the prophets? The scholars, or the callers who travel from place to place? Some of them [i.e. callers] are not even able to recite Sūrah al-Fātiḥah correctly and do not know the pillars of Islām. Corrupt reasoning and misinterpetation of the speech of Allāh and His Messenger (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) is the way of the people of innovation and desires; so be warned.

Further Debunking Some Doubts and Diversionary Tactics of the Muṣaʿfiqah
—The Visit of Tunisian Salafis to Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī 19/08/1439 AH—

الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه ومن اتبع هداه، أما بعد

In implementation of the saying of Allāh, the Most High: And as for the blessing of your Lord, proclaim it. [Sūrah al-Ḍūhā, 93:11]

Allāh has granted me the opportunity to visit the Imām, al-Muḥaddith, Rabīʿ al-Sunnah, Rabīʿ ibn Hādī ibn ʿUmayr al-Madkhalī — may Allāh preserve him — at his house in the city of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) on the night of Sunday the ninteenth of Shaʿbān, in the year one thousand four hundred and thirty-nine after the migration of al-Muṣṭafá (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) [2018/05/19]. I was accompanied by my brothers from Tunisia.

I was very delighted at the way the shaykh and his son received and welcomed us. Their doors are open wide for visitation and the claim that it is closed — by those who label others ṣaʿāfiqah — is a blazing lie.

I found him (Imām Rabīʿ) in a safe and healthy state — may Allāh preserve him upon that — holding his book, reading and researching. I sought permission to present some questions to him and he granted us permission. We were enlightened by his answers so much so that I wished to share them and perhaps Allāh will benefit others by way of it.

Question #1:

The statement that, “Shaykh Muḥammad (ibn Hādī) has evidences with him for his refutation against the students — who were labelled ṣaʿāfiqah — which Shaykh Rabīʿ has not yet been informed about, so do not be hasty against Shaykh Muḥammad” has become widespread between our brothers.

Shaykh Rabīʿ: Woe, woe, woe to them!

Right. There are evidences which I have not seen yet. Nor have the people seen them and even Muḥammad ibn Hādī has not seen them yet. This is because it does not exist at all.

The Shaykh then laughed, may Allāh preserve him upon his happiness.

Question #2:

'O Shaykh, on some Facebook pages, they have now started to speak ill of Shaykh ʿUbayd al-Jābirī and Shaykh ʿAbdullāh al-Bukhārī, may Allāh preserve them.

Shaykh Rabīʿ: Have they become people of innovation?! They (Shaykh ʿUbayd and Shaykh ʿAbdullāh) are from the heads of Daʿwah Salafiyyah, bārak Allāhu fīkum.

The shaykh, upon hearing this news, became upset.

Written by: Abū ʿUbaydah Walīd al-Tunīsī, Sunday at Fajr, the 19th of Shaʿbān, 1439 AH.
This sitting was witnessed by ʿUmar, the son of Shaykh Rabīʿ, as well as our Tunisian brothers ʿAbd al-Raʾūf, Ḥātim and Muḥammad ʿAlī al-Mājarī.

Shaykh Ubayd ibn ʿAbdillāh al-Jābirī: "When the knowledge one possesses is contrary to his actions, then the knowledge is a proof against the servant, and such a person resembles those whose Allāh’s anger is upon, the Jews. They were called, “those whose Allāh’s anger is upon” because they did not act upon the knowledge which they possessed."

Likewise, when actions are without knowledge, ignorance and confusion enters the worship; such a person resembles the Christians because they (i.e. the Christians) worship Allāh upon ignorance and misguidance.1

Shaykh ’Ubayd al-Jābirī on Tarāwīḥ Prayers In the Mosques of the People of Innovation

Questioner: O Shaykh, in the month of Ramaḍān, some of the Salafīs leave off the Taraaweeh prayers in the masājid of the Salafīs and go to the masājid of other than them because of the beautiful recitations of their Imāms, so is this [action of theirs] permissible?

Shaykh ’Ubayd: In reality this question is strange, and that is because some of the Salafīs leave off the Taraaweeh prayer of Ramaḍān with their brothers from the Salafīs and go to pray it with the people of innovation due to their beautiful voices…”

Questioner: Shaykh, the question does not say ‘the people of innovation,’ rather it merely says ‘other than them’ (i.e. other than the Salafīs).

Shaykh ’Ubayd: Other than them, meaning the people of innovation, because if the word ‘other’ is used as the opposite of the Salafī, it means the person of innovation. As for the answer to this question, I advise these youth from the Salafīs to pray with their brothers from the Salafīs and not to go to the people of innovation, because this will increase their numbers and strengthen them against the people of the sunnah. That is one point; another point is that following after the beautiful voices of those who recite and bouncing from one reciter to another, because of a beautiful voice, is from the affairs of fitnah as has been related from Imām Aḥmad (d.241H) and others, may Allāh have mercy upon them.1

Benefit: The First Piece of Revelation Which Initiated Prophethood

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

A benefit from tonight's upcoming al-Usūl al-Thalāthah lesson (2017/10/11) at TROID:

According to the strongest position, “Iqraʾ” (read) was the first piece of revelation. The first verses revealed to the prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) were:

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ١
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ٢
اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ٣
الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ٤
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ٥

Read! In the name of your Lord who has created (all that exists). (1)
He has created man from a clot. (2)
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. (3)
Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. (4)
He has taught man that which he knew not. (5)
[Sūrah al-ʿAlaq, 96:1-5]

This was the introduction to the beginning of revelation. When the angel came and held him (the Prophet, ṣallá Allāhu ʿālayhi wa sallam) tightly and then let him go, holding him tightly again and letting him go - the angel did this three times, each time saying: Read! The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿālayhi wa-sallam) would reply: I am not able to read! Then the third time, the angel recited the verses to him and the Prophet went to Khadījah (raḍi Allāhu ʿanhā)—who was his pious, trusted, noble wife—and he informed her of that which occurred whilst trembling and frightened due to his unfamiliarity with that which had taken place.

Benefit: The Responsibilities of a Messenger

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

The definition of a messenger, linguistically, is one who was sent with a message. Islamically, a messenger is a man from the children of Ādam who Allāh has sent down revelation to regarding His legislation. The responsibilities of a messenger — as found in the Qurʾān and authentic Sunnah — are:

1) That he is a witness for and against the creation. He is a witness for them in that which they actualize of his Sunnah and the legislation of Allāh which he came with. He is a witness against them in that which they don’t actualize and what they abandon of his Sunnah and the legislation of Allāh.

2 )To give glad tidings and warnings. The glad tidings of Paradise are given to the obedient and the warnings — which are reminders of the punishments — are given to the disobedient.

3) To judge between the people and resolve their disputes.

4) To educate the people about the legislation of Allāh.
