Bashiir Shiil, KBW and al-Shabāb

The late scholar and former Muftī of Jīzān, al-ʿAllāmah Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá al-Najmī (raḥimahullāh), answers questions concerning the statements of Bashir Shiil, Imām of Khālid ibn al-Walīd Mosque in Toronto, Canada. The recording, which took place in 2003, clarifies the mistaken statements of Shiil and his opposition to the manhaj of the Salaf. This lesson with a true scholar shows how Shiil, and those like him, seek to cut off the connection between the (Ṣumālī) youth and the scholars of our time.
In the audio published yesterday, Shaykh Aḥmad al-Najmī (rahimahullāh) explained the errors in Bashīr Shiil's speech and showed how it disconnects the people from the Scholars and the truth. So we were able to see the Shiil's dislike for the people to call and contact the scholars and his hatred of refutations (a hallmark of the people of ḥizbiyyah). So, on the other hand, what do the people of takfīr think about Bashīr Shiil?
Here is a screenshot from the most hardcore takfīri, khāriji, jihādi, al-Qaida/ISIS defending site in the English speaking world whereby they rush to defend bashīr, old QSS/Ḥalabī defenders jump in too. The discussion defames Shaykh Rabī ibn Hādī (hafiẓahullāh) whilst these takfīrīs point to Bashir Shiil as a more valuable reference point for people in Toronto:
Questions issued from some of the youth at TROID in Toronto, Canada to the noble Scholar, al-ʿAllāmah Zayd ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī. The tele-link happened in 2002 and raised questions about some of the leaders of Khalid ibn al-Walīd Mosque.
Some have asked for proof (audible) of Bashir Shiil or other KBW personalities actually saying the words presented to the noble scholars Shaykh Aḥmad al-Najmi and Zayd al-Madkhalī. In the preceding audio, their recorded words are noted.
Now, the reader should keep in mind, hizbiyyah is a horrible virus, the infected one, who tried to spread doubts such as: "did he really say this" will then move on to the next excuse: "why are they hunting for mistakes". One should not pay any mind to such people, make duʿā for their guidance.
In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy
In the post 9/11 world, the ability to speak openly promoting terrorism or terrorist groups has been outlawed. The loop-hole in this environment is to invite and promote terrorist sympathisers who can give general lectures (in Canada), but, in the technologically ubiquitous world, young Muslims can access their more hardened lectures on YouTube and social media.
From these terrorist defending ignoramuses is Hassan Hussien, a Somali based in Kenya. He is a man who lectured at Khalid bin Walid (KBW) Mosque in 2007, here are some screenshots of his video-recorded lessons at KBW:
Hassan Hussein is a devious defender of al-Shabāb, the outlawed al-Qaida inspired terrorist organisation in Somalia and Kenya that has terrorised Muslims and non-Muslims in the Horn of Africa.
In the following audio, Ḥasan Hussein speaks graphically about those who oppose the "mujāhidīn" (i.e. al-Shabāb) [click for audio] :
"Its being said that there are some problems going on in the ranks of the mujāhidīn (al-Shabāb) nowadays, the one who's opposition and problems cannot be solved, then his eyes should be popped out and he should be killed. Anyone who opposes with an opposition that divides the Ummah deserves to be killed!"
Any man who seeks jihad, there is fighting going on in Somālia. Don't worry, take your gun and go to the first ranks, fight and become a martyr. Don't worry about there is no Amīr (leader) or my Aunt said this and that, [meaning don't bring excuses] leave all these disagreements and go to the after-life and paradise! (by participating in the "jihād" in Somālia) If you are telling the truth ( that is if you really want martyrdom), if you are not able to agree then their are still many places where its (jihād) is happening. Why would you busy yourself with all these disagreements of Somalis that have been destroying them (their country) for 20 years?
It (Jihad) is going on in Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan and it started in Mali, Libya and Tunisia now, also started in Syria-that which is known as the Jihad of al-Sham etc.
If ever there was a call to the destruction of the Muslim youth, the removal of rights (rulers, parents, family) and and open and overt call to terrorism, Ḥasan Hussein exemplified it in his speech.
In another recording, typical of kharajites, Hussien attacked the noble Companion, Ibn Abbās (رضي الله عنه), claiming that he opposed the texts of the Qurʾān and Sunnah! [click for audio] :
"The narration of Ibn Abbās about kufr lesser than the major kufr is a saying which opposes the apparent texts (the Qurʾān and Sunnah)."
Is it any wonder that young men have travelled from Somali communities in Canada to join al-Shabāb? What else can be expected from an Imām and a mosque (Khālid Ibn Walīd) who host terrorist supporters like Hassan Hussein.
The following is a photo of Hussein leaving court in handcuffs, after his arrest in Kenya:
These are the types of people Bashir Shiil and KBW have invited and promoted. May Allāh protect the youth from their snares.
A brief response to a question that was raised about this particular group. Hopefully, it will be sufficient for those who are sincere in their search for the truth.
The Reality of al-Harakaah al-Shabaab al-Mujaahideen in Somalia
What Is The Methodology Of Shabaab?
“A member of her household bore witness.” (Yusef: 26)
Ahmed Godane, who is currently one of the leaders of this household (i.e. Shabaab), stated in a recorded message to Bin Laden:
“Here we are at your service, O our Ameer, our Shaykh, O Abū ‘Abdullāh (Usaamah Bin Ladin). The Mujaahidoon here are well.”
“We give you glad tidings of that which will delight you, and we await your directions.”
"May Allaah bless your actions and your Jihaad."
You can also hear some of the members of Shabaab instructing a group of young children to shout the following:
“We love you, O Usaamah!”
“We love you, O Usaamah, and we (pledge) to hear and obey you!”
In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy
Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Hādī1: Wa ʿalaykum al-salām
Questioner: I love you for Allāh's sake.
Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Hādī: May Allāh—the one whom you loved me for—love you.
Questioner: O noble shaykh, your salafi sons [term of endearment] who reside in Canada say that there is a misguided khārijī group in Ṣumālīa called Al-Shabab Movement, they call the Muslims who reside in Canada to engage in a crime (killing the innocent etc.) at the biggest mall in North America which is located in [Edmonton] Canada. What is your advice to the Muslims who reside in Canada?
Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Hādī: I say, do not obey those people (al-Shabāb), nor pay attention to them, as you are living in these countries, and it is required from you to be the best of representatives for the Muslims in those countries, not being evil messengers for Islām and its people.
Do not obey those people who are requesting this from you [to engage in this crime], for verily they are calling you to evil; refuge is sought in Allāh from this. Whoever calls to guidance will have the reward similar to all those who follow him without their reward diminishing in any way and whoever calls to evil, he will have the sins similar to all those who follow him without their sins decreasing in any way. 2
These people should not be obeyed or concerned with because this will cause harm to the Muslims who reside in Canada, America, and the whole Western world, in addition (to that) it will present the image of Islām with an evil image that will make the enemies (of Islām) flaunt and slander the Muslims using this (evil image).
So when acts like this are committed (criminal acts which al-Shabāb call for) they (the enemies of Islām) find a chance to confirm their unjust rumours about Islām. So it is not permissible for you to answer their call (al-Shabāb) rather it is ḥarām (prohibited to answer them in their request). Likewise, you should abide with good in these lands that gave you the rights of residence when you faced oppression in your lands.
