The Shaykh, Muhammad al Anjaree (hafiẓahullāh), he began by praising Allaah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) and sending peace and blessings upon the Messenger (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and he said:
The Insaan, the person, man or a woman, in this life was created with a certain purpose, and that this person, he was not left purposeless, and at the same time we find that the Insaan forgets this reality every day. And this reality is that a Muslim, he has ‘īmān in the reality of this life, and this is something that the Shaykh wanted to highlight to say that this is what we have been getting the explanation from our Shaykh, Shaykh Ahmed As-Subay’ee in his explanation of the book ‘Kitaab-at-Tawḥīd’. In the explanation of what is the purpose of creation, and what are the foundations that the creation is created with. The Shaykh he mentioned, we have the statement of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala),
‘And I did not create Mankind and Jinn except to worship Me alone.' [Adh-Dhariyat]
With the purpose, that a person he actually actualises his worship of Allah, and this is what Allah decreed for this Insaan, for this person, and likewise Allah decreed for this Insaan that he has enemies, and from his enemies is Iblees; may Allah protect us from these evils and protect us from the Shaytaan who is rejected. And the Shaytaan is no doubt an enemy as Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) mentions in Qur’aan
‘Indeed Shaytaan is an enemy to you, so take him (the Shaytaan) as your enemy.'
This Insaan, he was created with the purpose of worship of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) and at the same time he will have enemies like the Shaytaan. And this Insaan, he has many obstacles in his worship, you find himself in a test and he has obstacles; and from these tests he finds himself in between Truth and Falsehood, and needs to make the correct choice. And this Iblees tries to misguide this Insaan by taking him far away from the correct reality that indeed he is an enemy for him, he takes him far away from this reality, and he makes him forget that he is his enemy, and who is his real enemy; so this doubt and this forgetfulness, it takes the Insaan far away from the correct affair that the Iblees is his enemy, this forgetfulness indeed takes a person to a state where he is in the displeasure of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala).
What you find today with the Jamaa’at and these Islāmic political innovated groups and parties is that they try and show you that in reality who are your true enemies is for example the Freemasons or some countries, these are your true enemies, and they leave the correct reality, as Allah has mentioned in the Qur’aan, the Shaytaan is he who takes you as enemies.
But these Jamaa’at al Bid’eeyah, as the Shaykh mentioned, these Islāmic political innovated groups and parties, they try and show you that Freemasons are your enemy, or that Communism is your enemy, and the Shaykh said, this is indeed a Shaytaani trick; this is only a trick from theShaytaan, and the Shaykh said, we only hear from a few, very few people that the true reason for you being deviated from the correct path is Iblees, the Shaytaan. You hear from a lot claiming that Communism is that which takes you far away from the Truth, or that Freemasons are the ones that take you far away from the Truth; but you find that they leave the real truth and the real reality of the fact that the true enemy between the Insaan is the enemy of the Shaytaan between the Insaan, the true enemy is Iblees and the Insaan.
Who is the one who led the Jews and the Christians astray? It is the Shaytaan! Who is the one that led the people to follow these ways like Communism and Socialism? It is the Shaytaan! Who is the one that led you to associate partners with Allah, making shirk? It is the Shaytaan! So in reality, you’re true enemy is who? It is the Shaytaan.
You will find that Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) asked ‘Eesa (‘alayhis salām) the Prophet of Allah,
“Did you say to the people ‘take me and my mother as something to be worshipped.’ He will say ‘No’" [Ma'idah: 116]
So who is the one that led the Christians to believe that they should take ‘Eesa and his mother as something to be worshipped? It is the Shaytaan.
Today we hear, for example, the head of the Vatican, or who is known as the Pope, in present day, and we hear from them where they blame…and there is no difference between all of these religions; there is no difference with a person who is Communist or a Socialist or a Christian, or even a person who doesn’t believe in anything; there is no difference between all of them, for who is the one that led the people to believe, for them to claim that this way, this is not something that I’m bringing from myself, this is something we’ve heard a couple of weeks ago, or three weeks ago, to the extent that he said that there is no punishment, not only that, that there is no Hellfire.
It is not an obligation upon the Sunni, as a Muslim that he follows the way of the Jamaa’at, or the methodology of these Islāmic political innovated groups and parties in their enmity to these ideologies. It is not for the Muslim, or the Insaan to take enemies who are not true, who these people claim are the enemies, rather the real enemy is the Shaytaan. And the Muslims, they do not leave this circle; at the same time we do believe that the Muslims, they will not be pleased to follow the ways of the Jews and the Christians, yes that is known; but the Shaytaan , he wants to do to Islām what he did to the religion of the Jews and Christians, and that is the goal of Iblees, his goal is to change the religion of Islām, like he changed the religion of the Jews and the Christians, and the Shaykh mentioned the ayah in the Qur’aan where Iblees says to Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) that he will misguide the Muslims, except from those of your worshippers who are Mukhliseen, who are sincere, and indeed they are few.
And the Shaykh said, who are these few? They are Ahlussunnah, they are the Saved Sect, and they are the People of Tawḥīd, and they are the ones who clarify, and they are not upon those ways, and they are not upon the way of Iblees; they are the ones who actualise the Tawḥīd.
There is a problem in this affair, and the problem we have and the difficulty we have in this affair is that it is an affair which is Unseen. When your enmity of Iblees is based upon a matter which is unseen, and here you find Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) mention in the Qur’aan,
‘Alif Laam meem, dhaalikal kitaabu la rayba feehi hudal lil mutaqeen.’
'Alif-Lâm-Mîm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings] This is the Book (the Qur'ân), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqûn [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allâh much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allâh much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].
As the Shaykh mentioned that Allah mentioned that this Qur’aan which has nothing by way of deficiency in it, and it is a source of Guidance for the People of Taqwa. And who are the first and foremost from the People of Taqwa?
The first and foremost from the People of Taqwa are those who are firm in the matters of the Unseen, before those who pray, before those who establish the Salawaat, they are the ones who believe in the affairs of the matters of the Unseen; they know that this Shaytaan is an affair of the matters of the Unseen, but they believe in it and their enmity to the Shaytaan is a matter of the Unseen. And you find that this affair is not an affair which is a material affair, and as the Shaykh explained in English, this is the challenge, this is the challenge for the Sunni, to believe in an enmity of the Shaytaan, actualisiing this by way of your worship, this is something which is not a material affair; in opposition with the statements of the Jama’aat, with the statements of the Islāmic political innovated groups and parties, where they want you to believe in something were your enemy is a material enemy, it is difficult for them to fathom this. So a person, they want you to connect them, this Insaan, to show them that their enemy is a material affair, but the Insaan, as the Shaykh mentioned, by way of his ‘Aqīdah, believes that his enemy is something which is Unseen, and this is an affair which is heavy upon him, and it is a test for him.
The Jamaa’at, they don’t want this, what they want, what they need is enemies which they can show, this material enemy, and they say, for example, you have the people who make shirk, they are your enemy, and the Shaykh said that no doubt, this is something which is true, because as the Shaykh mentioned, the ayah, that the most difficult from those are those Jews and those who make shirk with Allah, no doubt they are from the most difficult of enemies, but the Salafi, because of his real ‘īmān in the affairs of the Unseen, he recognises that his true enemy isIblees, the Shaytaan. And no doubt the others, you find that they have a weakness in this, and their weakness is that they only recognise the enemy by way of material effects, and here the Shaykh said, this is the Furqaan, this is that which distinguishes clearly between the manhaj, or the methodology of the Sunni, and the methodology of all of those people of bid’ah who are in opposition.
So the enemy is something which is Unseen, and this is where the Sunni, he actualises in reality, in truth, that the person is always an enemy with Iblees, always in enmity with the Shaytaan, and it’s not possible for this person, except that the person whose body is constantly in worship to Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aala, this is the way he brings ‘ibaadah, that he has embraced it, he has embraced worship to Allah, and he is upon a way and upon the belief like the belief of the noble Companions, Abū Bakr and ‘Umar radhiallaahu ta’aala anhum.
And it’s possible that a person, he is upon this way that he gets closer to Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aala with his enmity to Iblees. But Iblees, the Shaytaan, he wants to change and distort this religion and a person is constantly at war with the Shaytaan, because Shaytaan wants to change the religion. The Shaykh gave a few simple examples; he said, the Shaytaan, when the Sunni, he makes dhikr of Allah, the Shaytaan wants you to make dhikr the way he makes it, he doesn’t want you to make dhikr of Allah upon the way of the Companions or that which Muhammad (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was upon, rather he wants you to make dhikr of Allah they way he did; or for example, the Shaykh said, who was the one who entered the statement that ‘the truth has been spoken by Allah’ after the recitation of the Qur’aan which is well known today as ‘Sadaqallaahul ‘adheem’, who was the one who entered this? We find that this wasn’t the way of the guidance of Muhammad (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) or his Companions, but the Shaytaan, Iblees, he entered this, and today, the Shaykh said, we find the people saying this, they say ‘sadaqallaahul ‘adheem’.
And the Shaykh said, few from the people are thankful, very few from the people are thankful, and very few from the people are mukhliseen, very few from the people are sincere, who stop the people and remind them, ‘no your true enemy is the Shaytaan’, and this is the Shaytaan entering this. So upon you is to be upon the way of the Companions and Muhammad (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam). And the Sunni is not pleased to enter anything into this affair because he knows that this is the way of the Shaytaan.
And the Shaykh said, I would like to end this speech, and you find that the Sunni he revives theSunnah and he kills off all bid’ah in every time and in every place, and the Shaykh said, reviving the Sunnah, the head of it is at-Tawḥīd, is actualising the statement ‘There is none with the right to be worshipped except Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aala’. And the head of bid’ah, is that a person, he leads to shirk, wa iyaadhubillaah, that he leads to associating partners with Allah. So how does a person call to Allah? My message, to my dear brothers is to revive the Sunnah and kill off all of the bid’ah, revive the Sunnah with myself with my family, with my close relatives, in the country that I live in, and in every place I may be, and this is reviving and calling to at-Tawḥīd, of actualising Tawḥīd and killing off all of bid’ah and the head of all of bid’ah, is ash-Shirk; and there is no doubt, the Shaykh said, inshaAllaah, that if a person is upon this way, that he has taken the Shaytaan as his enemy; there is no doubt inshaAllaah, that if a person is upon this way, reviving the Sunnah at the head of which is Tawḥīd and killing off all of bid’ah, with the head of which is shirk, then I have no doubt inshaAllaah that the person is upon enmity with the Shaytaan, as Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aala has ordered us to do, as Allah mentioned in the Qur’aan, and the Shaykh reminded us of this statement,
‘Indeed the Shaytaan is an enemy.’
And for you is to take the Shaytaan as your enemy. So as the Shaykh mentioned in English, This is your Flag, if you want to raise the banner of Islām, then this is your Flag; if you want to revive the Sunnah in every time and in every place and kill off all of bid’ah.
