Benefit: Creating Sister-Centric Independent Daʿwah Organisations?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

[Q]: In recent years, across the English speaking world, there has been a trend in women creating sister-centric organisations for the purpose of daʿwah. In this regard, they will create blogs, organise lessons with students of knowledge, request donations and generally speaking, create a banner organisation under which the women in the community and internationally by way of social media, caretake aspects of the daʿwah locally. Considering that leadership in daʿwah necessitates insight into intricate affairs and close relations with the scholars, visiting them and taking their directive, what have any of the Scholars said about this affair. Should sisters do this or should they unite with their local salafī centre?

Abū Ḥakīm answers this question from the seminar: Be in This World as a Stranger.

Benefit: Celebrating the Day and/or the Night of the Fifteenth of Shaʿbān with Worship Is a Despicable Innovation

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Ibn Bāz (رحمه الله) said: "Certainly, celebrating the fifteenth night of Shaʿbān by performing [supererogatory] prayers or other [acts of worship], and singling out its day with fast is a despicable innovation, as viewed by the majority of the people of knowledge. There is no basis for it in the pure Sharīʿah; rather, it is from that which arose in Islām after the era of the Companions (رضي الله عنهم)."

Benefit: The Fifteenth of Shaʿbān Is Not Auspicious, As Some People May Think

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Sāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (رحمه الله) said:

Some people, on the fifteenth of Shaʿbān, make food and distribute it as charity to the poor. They think that this day is auspicious for giving charity, but that is not the case. In reality, this is an innovation, and the fifteenth of Shaʿbān is not virtuous. It is like [the fifteenth of] any other month. There is nothing virtuous about it, except that if he (ﷺ) would fast the white days [i.e. the thirteenth, the fourteenth and the fifteenth of the Islamic month], then he would fast the fifteenth day. As for singling its night with prayer and its day with fast, then there is no basis for that. There is nothing confirmed from the Prophet (ﷺ) about this.
