يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ادْخُلُوا فِي السِّلْمِ كَافَّةً

O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islām (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion)
[Al-Baqarāh, 2:28]

Ibn Qayyim has mentioned that the heart is of three types:

  1. Hearts that are sound in ʿAqīdah free from the things that have been dispraised (by Allāh and His Messenger)
  2. The dead heart – this heart has no īmān or Taqwá
  3. The sick heart – not fully dead or sound:

This heart leans towards either the sound heart or the dead heart. The one with this heart should cure itself by fighting his desires, which in turn, will lead to a sound heart. It is feared if one doesn’t fight it then his heart will incline towards the dead heart.

Our brother mentions the significance in rectifying the heart by referring back to the Tawḥīd and Ṣifāt of Allāh:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allāh), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqūn (the pious – see V.2:2).
[Al-Baqarāh, 2:21]

We should thank Allāh for guiding us and for not testing us the way He tested our predecessors like al-Miqdād ibn al-ʿAmr who was located in boiling water and then placed on scorching sand whereupon the mushrikūn of Quraysh trampled upon his stomach to an extent his skin resembled the leper, or the test Sumayyah faced, Bilāl faced, and many others!

«O son of Ādam, do you possess from your wealth except that you’ve eaten and it is gone? Or that which you clothe yourself with and it’s diminished? Or that which you spend in charity and sent it forward. Do you possess from your wealth other than that?»
Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim

Allāh can remove this blessing from us, it is upon us to turn to Him with Tawḥīd, correcting our ʿAqīdah and Manhaj. These things will lead to the established heart. Petty things such as sisters and/or brothers fighting each other in places of knowledge should not take place, one should advise one another upon righteousness and patience in the way of Allāh.

وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ نَسُوا اللَّهَ فَأَنسَاهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ

And be not like those who forgot Allāh (i.e. became disobedient to Allāh) and He caused them to forget their ownselves, (let them to forget to do righteous deeds). Those are the Fāsiqūn (rebellious, disobedient to Allāh).
