Unity within the ranks of the Muslims is quite possibly one of the most discussed and debated topics amongst the Muslims today. What are the principles and guidelines that Allāh has commanded the Believers in the Qurʾān and commanded His Prophet in the Prophetic Traditions by way of unity, in order that they may be given strength, honour and protection? The command for the Muslims to unite is from the fundamentals of the fundamental principles of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-Jamāʿah, and thus it is an important subject and one which should be given its proper place within the teachings of al-Islām.
