Be Different from the Kuffār

Shaykh Mūsá Richardson

An impactful khuṭbah regarding the great importance of being different from the disbelievers.

During his summer visit in 1431H (2010), our beloved teacher, Abū al-ʿAbbās delivered an impactful khuṭbah on the Day of Jumuʿah. In this khuṭbah, he stressed the great importance of being different from the disbelievers. Our Lord, Allāh, subḥānahu wa taʿālá, has blessed the Muslims and raised them above all other nations. He has made us distinct from the disbelievers. Allāh says in Sūrah al-Munāfiqūn, the meaning of which is, “But honour, power, and glory (al-‘Izzah) belong to Allāh, and to His Messenger, and to the believers,” There is no honour nor glory with the disbelievers. Therefore, it is upon the Muslims to maintain this distinction by differing from the disbelievers in all aspects of their lives. Listen to this reminder, may Allāh have mercy upon you, so that you may become successful.
