Purifying Ourselves from the People of Bidʿah
The prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) most certainly warned his ummah against deviation and fabrications within the religion. Whilst this is the case, many are adamant upon distorted principles and understandings of mūwāzanāt (counterbalancing the good and bad in preachers). This is especially so in our trying times, with groups such as the Ikhwān al-Muflisīn (The Bankrupt Brotherhood) spearheading the call to such misguidance, wa-Allāhu al-mustaʿān. Our pious salaf feared misguidance, and they used to warn against Ahl al-Bidʿah, and by Allāh they were not deceived by their beautiful…

Mistakes of the Salaf vs. Mistakes of the Khalaf
A decisive blow to the ḥizbiyyīn who love to equate the errors of the juhaal (ignoramuses) such as Sayyib Qutb, Abū al-Fitan al-Misrī and those who arose from their mucus and poisonous ink with the shortcomings of the ʿulamāʾ of the salaf. Thus, providing them with an ‘escape clause’ any time they are exposed issuing a statement that opposes the dīn of Allāh and the sunnah of the Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Such that they can error and error and error and be free from blame since they hoodwink the general folk with the idea that the likes of Imām Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, the vanguard…

Knowledge Before Action
What is knowledge? Shaykh Ṣalaḥ al-ʿUthaymīn says: Linguistically it is the opposite of ignorance, and it is to firmly comprehend a matter upon its reality. Its definition as it relates to Istilāḥ in the Sharīʿah refers to the knowledge revealed by Allāh to the Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), i.e the two revelations, the Qurʾān, and the Sunnah, which also came by way of revelation. And that which is considered as knowledge which is praiseworthy is the knowledge of revelation.
The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said ‘Whomsoever Allāh wants good for, He gives him under…

Give Thanks and Praise to Allāh who Guided you to Islām and the Sunnah
The speaker stresses that they must not only thank Allāh for guiding them to Islām, but that they should also thank Allāh for guiding them to the Sunnah, because Allāh has guided some people to Islām, but not to the Sunnah.

Examples of the Companions in Seeking Knowledge
We find in the authentic Sunnah a narration in which the Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said,
“My Ummah will divide into 73 sects1, all of them will be in the Fire except for one, and that is the Jamāʿah.” It was said, “And who are they, O Allāh’s Messenger?” He responded, “That which I and my Companions are upon today.”2
There are numerous benefits which can be derived from this ḥadīṭh, and from them is the great desire of the Companions (raḍī Allāhu ʿanhum ajmaʿīn) in seeking knowledge and understanding of the dīn of Allāh (subhānahu wa-taʿāla); such that when the Messenger (ṣ…

Benefits Pertaining to Knowledge from Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādiʿī
From the tremendous reminders of Shaykh Muqbil (raḥimahullāh) mentioned by Ustādh Abū al-Ḥasan in relation to ʿilm and the students of knowledge:
The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and it is recorded in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, ‘Whomsoever Allāh wishes good for, He gives him understanding of the religion.’
The knowledge discussed in this narration is the knowledge of Sharīʿah; legislation and revelation.
Both Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz and Shaykh Muqbil (raḥimahumAllāh) mention that the opposite can also be understood: Whomsoever Allāh does not wish good…

Accompanying the Innovated Excursions of the Tablīghī “Jawla”
Shaykh Hammūd al-Tuwayjirī [d. 1413 AH] said:
“As for the query of the questioner: Do I advise him to take excursions [jawla] with the jamāʿah al-tablīgh whether this be within our country (of Saudi Arabia) or outside of it?
I respond: Truly, I advise this individual and others who possess a desire to keep their dīn safe from the dregs of shirk, extremism, innovation, and meaningless, nonsensical activities—to refrain from attaching themselves in any way with the tabīghiyyīn. Never go on excursions [jawla] with them, whether this be in Saudi Arabia or outside of it. For the most lenient opi…

The Rejection of al-Jamāʿah al-Tablīgh’s Claim: Allāh is Everywhere
Shaykh Ḥammud al-Tuwayjirī [d. 1413 AH] said:
From among the greatest calamity of the creed of the tablīghiyyīn is their rejection of Allāh’s attribute of being the Most High. This belongs to the jahmī madh`hab who have rightly earned the label of disbelief (kufr) from many of the scholars from among the pious predecessors, and from whom they have declared themselves innocent.
Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said in ‘Al-Kāfiyah al-Shāfiyah: ‘Their [jahmī] disbelief is well established by fifty times ten from among the scholars of our domain. And Imām Al-Lālikāʾī has related this from them and before hi…
