Every soul will taste death, and We test you with evil and with good as trial, and then to Us you will be returned.
[Surah al-Anbiyyāʾ, 21:35]
He also said in Sūrah al-Muʿminūn:
After that you are to die, and on the Day of Judgement, you will be resurrected.
[Surah al-Muʿminūn, 23:15,16]
No one denies death. Shaykh al-Fawzān said, one may ask, “Why did Allāh emphasize we are going to die then?” It is because most of mankind do actions in this world of a person who is not sure about death; they do not work for this inevitable destination.
How are we going to spend the first night in the grave?
Allāh said that a person will say, when the angel of death come to him, “O my Lord send me back.” Why? “So I can do some good deeds that I did not do.” But it will be too late. When death comes to a person they will ask for a little bit more time. But Allāh said, “Allāh will not delay any soul.”
So do not wait for death to ask to go back to do good. You are alive now, then do good now. Your last day in the dunyā is your first day of your ākhirah. Are you going to die upon faith, sincerity and tawhid or are you going to die upon shirk and doubts and kufr?
May Allāh make us from those who fear him and those who will have a good end.
