The Parable Between Those Who Claim the Daʿwah Is Divided and Those Who Reassure the People of Allāh’s Blessings

Examine carefully the behaviour of the Ahl al-Sunnah in times of tribulation and disagreement. They will be positive, resolute and moving forward in good spirits. Those who wish to scheme and divide will display harshness, negativity and doom, all in an effort to cause splitting and separation.

When trials appear, you find the Salafīs, the people of goodness, the people of knowledge, assuring themselves and the people in general, of the khayr they have, the blessings of Allāh upon them of: masājid, centres, classes, teachers, and schools, which necessitates patience in the face of trials. They reassure the people that it will come to pass and that relief and clarity is soon to come.

On the other hand, the people of fitan will flame the fires of fitnah and beat the drums of division. They will paint a picture that the people are divided and that the da’wah is on the brink of destruction.

However, read the reassuring speech of al-‘Allāmah Ṣālih al-Fawzān regarding this matter:

So a person should not despair when trials and evils increase. Upon the occurrence of tribulations, He should reassure himself and those around him saying: “All praise is due to Allāh, we are upon guidance, a clear religion. Relief is near, and evil will disappear by the permission of Allāh.” This is how it should be for the people of goodness and knowledge. They reassure themselves and the people that this matter will dissipate by His permission, and relief will come after it.

It is not permissible for a person to say: “The people are destroyed.” This is impermissible. Rather, he should reassure the people, strengthen [their resolve] upon righteousness, and inspire in them hope for victory. Indeed the outcome is always for the pious. Allāh alternates this world between the people, but the outcome is always for the pious.

No matter how great the evil and tribulations become, they are — by the permission of Allāh — destined to fail. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “There will never cease to be a group from my Ummah manifest upon the truth, unharmed by those who oppose them or forsake them, until the command of Allāh comes.”
