Be Patient in the Face of Harm

Shaykh Ṣaliḥ ibn al-Fawzān

A reminder of the hardship that our Prophet (ﷺ) had to endure in calling to the message of Allāh and the patience he exhibited.

Shaykh Ṣaliḥ ibn al-Fawzān, may Allāh preserve him, said:

Whoever invites to Allāh ought to remain patient in the face of harm and continue his call. His example in this regard is the Messengers, the seal and best of whom is Muḥammad, may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace.

The (disbelievers) called him a sorcerer, a liar, and a madman. When he invited them to Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, they cast stones at him till his heels bled.

When he was prostrating at the Kaʿbah, they placed the abdominal contents of a she-camel over his back. They threatened to kill him, and in the Battle of Uḥud… they broke his incisors, wounded his head, and he fell into a hole – and he was the Prophet of Allāh. However, with patience he bore (these injuries), and he was the finest of creation, may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace.
