Advice On Dealing with Anger
The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “The strong man is not the one who can overpower others (in wrestling); rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself when he gets angry.”
Anger is one of the evil whispers of Shayṭān, which leads to so many evils and tragedies, of which only Allāh knows their full extent. For this reason, Islām has a great deal to say about this bad characteristic, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) described cures for this “disease” and ways to limit its effects, among which are the following:
(1) Seeking refuge with Allāh from the Shayṭān

Comprehensive Guidance
…order you with five things which Allāh ordered me with: The Jamāʿah, hearing, obeying, ḥijrah (migration), and Jiḥād in the way of Allāh – the Mighty and Majestic. So whosoever separates from the Jamāʿah by a hand-span, throws off the yoke of Islām from his neck, unless he repents. And whosoever calls with the calls of the days of ignorance, then he is from the horde of the Hellfire.
From al-Ḥārith al-Ashʿarī (raḍī Allāhu ʿanhu) who said that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:
“Indeed, Allāh – The Most High – ordered Yahyá Ibn Zakariyyā with five things; that he should act upon them and or…

The Consequences of Disobedience
What caused Iblīs to be ejected from enjoying the company of the Angels to being debased and cursed? What caused his outward and inward form to be disfigured such that he took on the most vile of features and his inner features even worse?
Alhamdulillāh wa ṣalātu wa salāmu ʿalá nabiyyinā wa habeeibnaa Muḥammad
Taken from ‘al-Jawāb al-Kāfi of ibn al-Qayyim’
It is necessary to know that performing sins is detrimental and harmful to the servant. The harm that sins cause to the heart is comparable to the differing levels of harm that various types of poison cause to the body. Indeed is there…

Forgiveness: The Mark of the Muslim
Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) mentioned:1 In the Name of Allāh, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. Indeed Allāh – to whom belongs all praise – has bestowed upon me immense grace, great favours and generous blessings which necessitates immense gratitude, being firm upon obedience to him, and becoming accustomed to having beautiful patience in that which He ordered. Indeed, a servant is ordered to have ṣabr (patience) in times of ease more so than in times of hardship. Allāh – the Most High – said:
وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ نَعْمَاءَ بَعْدَ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ…

Death: The Destroyer of Desires
I also advise you – O brothers – to do those actions which will be the cause of love and affection to develop between you. Many people do not truly understand the Religion of Islām. Indeed many people think that the Religion of Islām includes certain bad traits – even though Islām in reality objects to them – because some Muslims portray a false image of Islām.
Death is that harsh reality that is faced by every human who lives. It is the one thing that we will all experience – be we men, women, Muslims, Christians, Blacks, Whites or any other type of person on this earth. It is something t…

From the Rights of Tawḥīd
May Ṭubā (paradise) be for the one who desires to be just to himself for the sake of His Lord and recognises his ignorance, the great deficiency in his actions and his defects. Who recognises his transgression of His rights and his oppression in his daily affairs.
Hence if He takes him to account for his sins the [servant] sees this to be from His Justice and if He does not take him to account then he sees this to be from His Generosity. If he performs a good action then he sees that it arose due to His Blessing and His Gift.
Imām Ibn al-Qayyim
Then if He accepts it the servant sees this a…

Racing to do Good
Imām Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn – hafiẓahullāh- said:
“Hastening (to do good) is the opposite of being lazy and sluggish. So whenever a person is lazy and sluggish, then he will certainly miss out on a lot of good. This is why the Prophet ﷺ said: “The strong Believer is better and more beloved to Allāh that a weak Believer, yet in each of them there is good. So be eager in doing that which will benefit you, seek the help of Allāh. and do not be lazy.” 1 … Sometimes, due to a person’s laziness in doing good actions, he ends up not doing the good; either because death overtakes him, o…

The Blessing of Eating Collectively
Al-Wahshiyyee Ibn Harb (raḍī Allāhu ʿanhu) related that some of the Companions of Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ said, ‘O Messenger of Allāh! We eat, but we do not become satisfied.’ So he said to them: “Perhaps you eat separately?” So they replied: ‘Yes.’ So he said: “Eat your food collectively, mention the Name of Allāh upon it, then there will be blessings for you in it.”1
Shaykh Ibn al-ʿUthaymīn said: “This indicates that it is essential to eat collectively from a single plate. So if there are five or ten people, they should eat collectively from a single dish, depending upon the situation. Indee…

Should the Missed Fasts of Ramaḍān be Made up Before the Fasts of Shawwāl?
Imām Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn – hafiẓahullāh- said: “[There occurs] in the ḥadīth: “Whosoever fasts the month of Ramaḍān, then follows it up by fasting six days in the month of Shawwāl, it will be as if he has fasted the whole year.”1 Thus, whoever has yet to make up some of the missed fasts of Ramaḍān, has not yet truly fasted the [whole] month of Ramaḍān; and this is something very obvious … So there is no fasting the six fasts (of Shawwāl), except after completing the missed fasts of Ramaḍān.”2
