The Obligation of Seeking Knowledge
Mu’āwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān (رضي الله عنه), narrated that the Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Whoever Allāh wants good for He gives him understanding of the religion.” [Agreed Upon]
Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymīyyah (d.728H) has a famous statement: “Ahl al-Sunnah are the most knowledgeable of the people in regards to the truth and the most merciful of the people to the creation.” [Refer to Minhājus-Sunnah (5/158) of Ibn Taymīyyah.]
Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said: “The reasons that prevent (people) from accepting the truth are too many and from them is being ignorant of it. This reason is wh…

The Rights of Relatives
Some people only keep ties of relations with those who maintain ties with them, but cut off from those who cut off from them.
Relatives are those who are related to you through blood and close-ties; such as the brother, the uncle, the aunt, or their children. Everyone who has a tie of relation with you has certain rights upon you, in accordance with how closely they are related to you. About this, Allāh – the Most High — said:
وَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَىٰ حَقَّهُ
And give to the relative his right.
[Al-Isrāʾ‘ 17:26]
Allāh – the most high – also said:
وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْ…

How the Callers to Allāh Should Respond to False Propaganda
Thus, it is mandatory to expose falsehood and defend the daʿwah whilst you are busy propagating the call –and all praise belongs to Allāh. However, we do not want ourselves to become preoccupied with refuting this person and that person as this is what they desire for us to do. We occupy ourselves with calling to Allāh and in the course of the sermons (khuṭab) or talks we refute those who are intent on hindering people from good.
Allāh the Exalted said,
“Say O Muḥammad: “This is my way; I invite unto Allāh (i.e. to the Oneness of Allāh – Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge, I and whosoev…

Shield Your Tongue if You Wish to Attain Paradise
On the authority of Abū Muʿādh ibn Jabal (raḍī Allāhu ʿanhu) who said:
I said: O Messenger of Allāh, tell me an act which will take me into Paradise and will keep me away from the Hell-fire.
He said: You have asked me about a major matter, yet it is easy for him for whom Allāh, the Exalted, makes it easy. You should worship Allāh, associating nothing with Him; you should perform the prayers; you should pay the zakat, you should make the pilgrimage to the House. Then he said: Shall I not show you the gates of goodness? Fasting [which] is a shield; charity extinguishes sin as water extinguish…

Explanation of the Duʿāʾ to Alleviate Grief, Distress, and Anxiety
Imam Aḥmad, Musnad (1/391), and others reported upon the authority of Ibn Masʿūd that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: “No slave is afflicted with anxiety and grief, and then says:
‘O Allāh, I am Your slave, son of Your male slave, son of Your female slave. My forehead is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is assured and whatever you have decreed for me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught one of Your creation or which You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen with You that You…

Bulūgh al-Maram: Exhortation to Good Character
The following ḥadīth are selected from Bulūgh al-Maram’s Bulūgh al-Maram (Attainment of the Objective according to Evidence of the Ordinances) [Page 480+ eng. trans.], and touch on the importance of good Islamic character:
1314. Narrated by Ibn Masʿūd (رضي الله عنه) Allāh’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Adhere [you people] to truthfulness. Indeed, truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise, and if a man continues to speak the truth and makes truth his object, he will be recorded as truthful before Allāh. Avoid [you people] falsehood, indeed falsehood leads…

Reviving a Sunnah: The Duha Prayer
Abū Dharr narrated that the Messenger of Allāh said: “In the morning charity is due from every joint of your body. Every tasbeeh (saying glory be to Allāh) is charity. Every tahmeed (saying all praise is due to Allāh) is charity. Every tahleelah (saying none has the right to be worshipped except Allāh) is charity. Every takbīrah (saying Allāh is the Greatest) is charity. Enjoining the good is charity. Forbidding the evil is charity; and performing two rak’ah of Duha suffices all of this.”
Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīnShaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn -raḥimahullāh- said, as occurs in ‘Majmūʿul-Fatāw…

Ashʿariyyah: Answering Three Pivotal Questions about the Ashʿarīs
And the truth that no one doubts, not even the most unintelligent person, is that each and every description that Allāh has described Himself with, or that His Messenger ﷺ described Him with, must be free of any similarity to His Creation, and this is the apparent meaning that comes to mind for the one who has the slightest amount of faith in his heart…Could any intelligent person deny that the meaning that first comes to mind is based on the fact that the Creator is unlike the Creation with regards to His actual Presence, and with regards to His Attributes as well? No, by Allāh! No one deni…
