Q&A Session: Be in This World as a Stranger

[Q1]: This conference was themed around understanding Zuhd, raqāʾiq and other inspiring introspective topics that bring one nearer to Allāh. However, in our community, sometimes we hear the chant: Manhaj, Manhaj, Manhaj, all you people talk about is Manhaj. Is this a valid claim, should communities be less focused on the affair of Manhaj? What have our scholars said about this matter? [Q2]: What is a scholar? We noticed with the fitnah of Yemen/Dammāj, one of their tactics was to falsely raise the level of their callers quickly to scholars. Now, you find people referring to students of knowledge...

Examples of Zuhd in the Lives of the Salaf

This highly informative and beneficial lecture series delivered by our noble brother Abū Ḥafsah Kāshif Khān, goes through Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn’s explanation of Riyāḍh al-Ṣāliḥīn, the chapter: The Excellence of Zuhd (abstinence from the dunyā), An Enticement Upon Limiting Oneself Within it and The Excellence of Poverty,’ in which Imām al-Nawawī mentions a number of āyat from the Qurʾān which the noble Shaykh expounds upon. The topic of the dawrah (seminar) is based upon the ḥadīth collected by al-Bukhārī and narrated by ʿAbd-Allāh ibn ʿUmar (raḍī Allāhu ʿʿʿanhu)...

Answer Allāh and His Messenger When He Calls You to What Will Give You Life

O you who believe! Answer Allāh (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he (ṣalla Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) calls you to that which will give you life, and know that Allāh comes in between a person and his heart (i.e. He prevents an evil person to decide anything). And verily to Him you shall (all) be gathered. [al-Anfāl, 8:24]

The Sunnah is a Clear Path

[Q1]: I live beside a masjid (IMO) which is a Ṣūfī hanafī masjid, is it obligatory for me to pray my ṣalāt at Masjid al-Furqān? [Q2]: There are some sisters and brothers who visit TROID for a lecture then they go to ḥizbī masājid for other talks, i.e. “Masjid Hopping” [Q3]: There are some who took part in a fitnah here some years ago, they occasionally come by,  when they are encouraged to make tawbah and bayān (clarification/retraction of those harms), they say tawbah is for Allāh (refusing to make open clarification)! [Q4]: What do you advise the brothers and sisters with in terms of seeking...

The Need for Tawḥīd (The Importance of Knowledge)

“And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allāh (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Ṭāghūt [] (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Ṭāghūt besides Allāh).” Then of them were some whom Allāh guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth).”  (An-al-Naḥl 16:36) “…The Prophet Mūsá (ʿalayhi salām) was ordered to go to Firʿawn and inform him of his transgressions. We have boundaries of tawḥīd which cannot be...
