Mankind’s Greatest Need: Tawḥīd
[Tawḥīd] is to single Him out with worship, with love, lowliness and submissiveness to Him, by complying with His commands and submitting to them.
Ibn Abīl-’Izz (d.792H) – rahimahAllāh – said, “Knowledge of Uṣūlud-Dīn (the fundamentals of the Religion) is the most noble branch of knowledge since the excellence of a certain type of knowledge depends upon what it is concerned with, and this is the greater Fiqh (understanding), which is why Imām Abū Ḥanīfah (d.150H) – raḥmatullāhi ʿalayhi – called that which he compiled concerning Uṣūlud-Dīn: “al-Fiqhul-Akbar.” (the Greatest Fiqh). The need of…

Learning the Creed
Unfortunately, many of the duʿāt (callers to Islām) are themselves unaware of (basic matters such as) what are the conditions for Prayer, or unaware of the rules and regulations concerning wuḍūʾ (ablution) and those matters which invalidate wuḍūʾ.
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān
[Q]: There are some people here, who keep away from (attending) lessons on ʿaqīdah (creed/beliefs), and they say: ‘We are Muslims, we are not unbelievers or idol-worshippers such that we have to learn ʿaqīdah or attend lectures about it.’ So, O noble Shaykh, what is your view regarding this!
[A]: Teaching the Muslim…

The Beginnings of Deviation
So the beginnings of Shirk lay in the excessive praise and respect given to certain dead pious Muslims, who – due to peoples’ love for them – became idols that were worshipped and supplicated along with Allāh. So what needs to be understood is why people felt that they had to worship these righteous people along with worshipping Allāh.
Man’s Fitrah (Natural Disposition)
What is essential to know is that: “Allāh created the creation in order that they should worship Him. Furthermore, Allāh prepared for them – from His Provision – all that they would require. About this Allāh – the Most High -…

Allāh Is Greater
I have been given permission to relate to you about the Angels of Allāh – the Most High – that carry the ʿArsh (Throne). Between one of the Angel’s ear and shoulder is the distance of a seven hundred year journey.
Allāh – the Most High – says:
“But He will call you to account for what your hearts have earned.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah, 2:225]
“Then day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail, except he who comes to Allāh with a clean and pure heart.”
[Sūrah al-Shuʿarāʾ, 79:88-89]
The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said:
“Indeed there is a piece of flesh in the body; if it is…

Tawḥīd – Oneness of Allāh
All the prophets of God including; Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the tribes, Jesus, and Muḥammad (peace be upon them), invited the people to the same thing, to worship The One God without any partners, son or associates.
Allāh, The Exalted said: ” Say you (0 Muḥammad ): “This is my way, I invite unto Allāh (i.e. to the Oneness of Allāh – Islamic Monotheism) (with sure know/edge), land whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Al/ah i.e. the Oneness of Allāh – Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge. And Glorified and Exalted is Allah (above all they associate as partners with…

The Tawḥīd of the Prophets and Messengers
We would like to explain that the message of the Messengers, from the first of them which is Nūḥ (ʿalayhi al-Salām), to the last of them which is Muḥammad (ﷺ); all of them called to Tawḥīd. Allāh the Exalted said:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدُونِ ﴿٢٥﴾
“And We have not sent before you any Messenger, except that We revealed to him that there is no deity worthy of worship except Me, so worship Me.”
[al-Anbiyāʾ, 21:25]
And Allāh the Exalted said:
وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولًا أَنِ اعْ…

Not Judging by the Book of Allāh: A Cause for Calamities to Strike the Ummah
That there would always continue to be a group from this Ummah clinging to the truth and to the pure Tawḥīd of Allāh until the day of Judgment.
Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Jamīl ZaynūAllāh – the Most High – said:
“Say: Allāh has power to send punishment upon you from above you, or from under your feet; or to cover you in confusion with party strife, and make you taste the inter-fighting and violence of one another. See how We variously explain the Āyāt (proofs and signs), so that they may understand.”
[Sūrah al-Anʿām 6:65]
Allāh’s Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, when this verse…

An Issue Concerning the Attributes of Allāh
So the basic principle (asl) is that speech about the Attributes is speech about the Essence (dhaat) of Allāh, so it follows it in that and takes it as a model of example.
Al-Khaṭīb al-Baghdādī (d. AH 463)
Introduction
Verily the praise is for Allāh, we seek His aid and guidance. And we seek refuge from the evils of our own selves and from the evils of our actions. Whomsoever Allāh guides, then none can misguide him. And whosoever He misguides, then there is no guide for him. And I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship besides Allāh alone, without any associa…
