How Does a Woman Afflicted With Non-Menstrual Bleeding Know When to Resume Praying?
The Opinion of the Ḥanbalī Madh`hab
It is the opinion of the Ḥanbalī madh`hab that the woman experiencing istiḥāḍah (non-menstrual bleeding) should refrain from prayer only for a period equal to that of her normal menses, even if she is able to distinguish menstrual bleeding from istiḥāḍah. By ‘period equal to that of her normal menses,’ we are referring to a woman who had a monthly, regular time for her menses before being afflicted with istiḥāḍah. For example, a woman has her period regularly the first six days of every month without interruption to this norm or sickness [in the form of i…

Rulings Related to the Performance of Ghusl
Achieving the Requirements of Ghusl and the Ruling of Taking Water Inside of the Mouth and Nose
According to the Ḥanbalī madh`hab, the validity of ghusl1 is achieved by encompassing the entire body with water at least once. They do not specify washing the inside of the mouth or nose. This is because there is a difference of opinion regarding its obligation. From among the people of knowledge are those who say: ghusl is not valid without it, just like wuḍūʾ. It has also been said: it is correct without it. The former opinion is correct because of the saying of the Most High:
وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُ…

The Value of Looking at Those Less Fortunate and Showing Gratitude for Allāh’s Blessings
Narrated by Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: The Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Look at those who are less fortunate than yourselves. Do not look at those more fortunate than you. That is more befitting as a way of ridding oneself of scorn and disdain for the blessings of Allāh.”
Narrated by al-Bukhārī and Muslim1
Imām ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Nāṣir al-Saʿdī (d. 1391 AH) comments:
How beneficial is the advice given in this ḥadīth! It contains words that are both healing and comprehensive. It proves that one should show gratitude to Allāh through recognition of His blessings…

Everyone Today Is Considered a Scholar?
Importantly, Ustādh Abū Idrīs mentions the importance of clarity, those men who stand up in times of fitnah and are courageous, defending the truth, defending the scholars, not simply those who seek fame off the letters that follow their names.
The benefit is excerpted from the lecture entitled: Benefits from the Introduction to al-Ibānah al-Ṣughrá by Ustādh Abū Ḥakīm, from the 2018 Summer Seminar: The Methodology of the Salaf in Times of Fitnah.

The Old Game: Divide and Conquer
In the Qurʾān, Allāh subḥānahu wa taʿālā mentions the story of Ādam and Iblīs. Allāh reminds us that Shayṭān is a clear enemy to mankind. Law of Physics – Matter Can Neither Be Created Nor Destroyed?
[Q]: There is a phrase which is taught in school, “Matter can neither be created nor destroyed,” whilst Allāh is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, how can we refute this?
[A]: This is the speech of naturalists, those who speak regarding nature and do not believe in a Creator. The truth is, everything came to be after its non-existence, and shall perish after its existence, except Allāh, He does not have a beginning or an end.

The Ruling on the Urine of Male and Female Infants Who Have Not Begun to Consume Solid Food
Imām Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (d. 1421 AH) said:
The urine of a male child who has not yet begun to eat solid food is purified by sprinkling it with water. By our saying ‘urine’ we exclude faecal matter from this rule. By ‘sprinkling with water’ we mean to sprinkle the place of urine with water without rubbing it or needing to wring out the affected wetted material. The evidence of this is the ḥadīth of ʿĀʾishah (رضي الله عنها) that a child was brought to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). This child urinated on his clothes so he called for water. He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) sprinkled th…

Rulings Related to Female Genital Moistness
Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (d. 1421 AH) said:
Female genital moistness is considered pure although there is a difference of opinion in this issue. Some scholars say that it is najs and that any clothing that is marred by it will also be deemed impure. Their reasoning for this ruling is that everything that is excreted from the body from either the genitals or the anus should be considered fundamentally impure until evidence proves otherwise.
The amount of inherent hardship and difficulty in this opinion is truly known only by Allāh—the Most High. Especially upon the particular…

The Ten Articles of Fiṭrah
Narrated by ʿAʾishah (رضي الله عنها) who said: The Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Ten things are from the fiṭrah [natural disposition and inclination of man]: Cutting the moustache, allowing one’s beard to grow, using the siwāk [to clean one’s teeth], washing one’s nose with water, clipping one’s nails, cleaning the knuckles, plucking the hairs of the armpit, shaving off the pubic hair, and Istinjāʾ cleaning oneself [after answering the call of nature].” The narrator said: “I forgot the tenth one except that it may be ‘washing one’s mouth with water.’” Narrated by Muslim.1
