The Rejection of al-Jamāʿah al-Tablīgh’s Claim: Allāh is Everywhere

Al-ʿAllāmah Ḥammūd al-Tuwayjirī

The tablighī ṣūfī claim that Allāh is everywhere (in his essence), placing Him inside of His creation (the dunyá). Allāh is far removed from this jahmī philosophy.

Shaykh Ḥammud al-Tuwayjirī [d. 1413 AH] said:

From among the greatest calamity of the creed of the tablīghiyyīn is their rejection of Allāh’s attribute of being the Most High. This belongs to the jahmī madh`hab who have rightly earned the label of disbelief (kufr) from many of the scholars from among the pious predecessors, and from whom they have declared themselves innocent.

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said in ‘Al-Kāfiyah al-Shāfiyah: ‘Their [jahmī] disbelief is well established by fifty times ten from among the scholars of our domain. And Imām Al-Lālikāʾī has related this from them and before him al-Ṭabarānī. That is, five hundred from among the scholars have explicitly testified as to the disbelief of the jahmī [ideology]. Many of the sayings of the scholars concerning them were also mentioned by ʿAbdullāh the son of Imām Aḥmad in the book ‘Al-Sunnah,’ just as it has been mentioned by other than him from among the scholars who have composed books of Sunnah [ʿaqīdah] in which they have explicitly refuted the jahmī [ideology].

So let the one who chooses to rush forth to attach himself to the ranks of the tablīghīyyin take a lesson from what has been mentioned regarding the leader of this jamāʿah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when he deigned to claim that Allāh is everywhere and is not High [above His creation]! This is explicit disbelief (kufr), for it is a direct contradiction to the copious amounts of evidence from the Book [of Allāh], the Sunnah, and Ijmāʿ of the Muslims, that Allāh is above His Throne, above all of His creation, and that He is also with His creation in His knowledge, and in Him being completely acquainted with them in every way and from every conceivable angle. [Allāh says]:

Not even the weight of an atom (or a small ant) or less than that or greater, escapes from His Knowledge in the heavens or in the earth.
[Sabaʾ, 43:3]

and:

‘And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing].
[Al-Anʿām, 6:59]

So let every well-wishing Muslim be overtly cautious from ever joining the tablīghiyyīn, for they have rejected the Highness of Allāh above His creation. They have falsely claimed that He is everywhere. Exalted is He and high above what those oppressors say by great sublimity.
